Head injury and surgery to remove varicocele vein. Am I DQed?

I'm looking to get into Army ROTC at my graduate school, but these 2 issues worry me. I was in ROTC for 1.5 years in my undergrad. I took DoDMERB, was DQed at first because of my varicocele vein, but a waiver got me approved. I am 21 years old. Here are the two issues.

1) I'm having my varicocele vein removed via surgery on January 14th. Will this DQ me at all? Will it set me back at all? If so, for how long? There are no other issues with this, just getting it removed and that's it.

2) In August, I was overly intoxicated one night and ended up falling 7 feet and hitting my head on the concrete. I was taken via ambulance to the hospital where they ran tests on my head to make sure I was okay and I checked out fine. I had staples put in my head to close a cut I got from the fall. My memory that night goes in and out because of the alcohol. According to the ambulance report, I was moving around and breathing, but was out of it. I do not remember falling or being taken in the ambulance. The next thing I remember is waking up and I was fine from then on, leaving the hospital at 7AM.. My lack of memory is from all the alcohol. During this incident I also chipped the bone in my shoulder and sprained my shoulder. I never had an issue with my head, no side affects from the fall, and my toe and shoulder completely healed and I'm 100% healthy now. Is this going to be an issue?

Hi all!

Just a personal post here.

Mr Mullen has totally "re-vamped" the image of DODMERB to those of us "in the admissions loop."

His participation here is unheralded...the fact that he accepts and then replies to the HUGE volume of messages just this site generates, is testimony to his dedication to help the applicant!

Trust me...as one that's been involved in this process since 1977-1978, it was NOT always this way!!!

If he says "he's buried, give him some time..." trust me, he IS buried...allow him some time. His record of getting back to folks is legend. Heck, he called me from a pizza place with his family once, only 30 minutes after I sent what I thought was a "routine" question.

This man is amazing...give him some space...he'll get to all of you!!!

The rest of the staff at DODMERB also is great. Ds had a remedial issue, we had preparerd for it in advance by collecting records, copying, and getting doctor statements. These were lessons I learned in advance by reading this forum. When indeed the remedial was issued I as able to fax the response within hours and dodmerb processed that information within hours! I was prepared for weeks of back and forth but it took hours! And when I called and talked to a couple of staffers there they always were friendly, patient, helpful and efficient! That is how I want my government to work. Maybe we need to move the congress to Colorado Springs! Maybe it would help,,,just a thought. Ya think it is the weather?

Lynpar, my preference would be to put DoDMERB into Congress and Larry heading it up. Then things would get done!

Mr. Mullen for President! <just kidding, but not by much> :shake:

Last year at this time my DD was going through this process and we had a few DoDmerb questions and Mr. Mullen goes far beyond what I believe is his job. The time spent fielding question from this site is commendable. (I think he does the same on the other site also). I also got a phone call from him. He explained what was needed and had a sense of humor.

I would like to thank him and all of the people involved on this site. Without them and their dedication this process would really really stink. Happy holidays!!! :thumb:

How did the thumbs down symbol appear next to "dedication"
