Varsity hockey athlete who does not have 48 hours between practices or competitions. Obviously could skip a practice but then in the dog house with coach. Any suggestions, insight?

Show coach the letter, he will understand.

My DS was told that the issue is possible blood in the urine. He is a competitive swimmer who also gets hassled by the coaches if he takes time off practice (often both morning and afternoon practices).

Passing the DODMERB testing is an important part of the AROTC process. You have to decide what to do, but I'd suggest considering where your future is: hockey or AROTC.

A friend's son ran 5 miles the day before his DoDMERB exam and when he went in, they suggested he reschedule due to the big possibility of higher than normal proteins in his urine, which would trigger a remedial (and all the delays that could come with that). (FYI, my son had a remedial for a different issue, but from start to finish it took 3 months to clear--luckily we started the process early). Like Blackbird said, this is an impt. piece of the puzzle, whether an academy or ROTC. Grief now from his coach, or delays due to retesting (at some point he'll have to give a clean sample) and remedials etc.?

Anyone have a specific question? cut and paste your posting; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; sned to me in an email at Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil. I can assist U better from there and will reply this weekend:thumb:
