Quick question for you folks. Can you request A nomination to the United States Merchant Marine Academy from a representative from ANY of the congressional districts? Or just your own?

Im from Virginia. Does that mean ill have 13 (11 representatives + 2 senators) to request nominations from?

Thanks in advanced to everyone who can answer!

ALSO - Will the 2012 elections effect me at all? (currently a junior)

The locality boundary for a USMMA nomination by a Representative is the State in which the District lies rather than just the District itself.

In other words:
"A candidate does not have to reside in the same Congressional District as his/her nominator (a Member of the U.S. House of Representative CAN nominate a candidate who resides in a District other than their own, as long as it is in their (the nominator's) State/Territory.) This differs from nominations to the USMA, USNA, and USAFA."

Each Representative and each Senator may nominate ten candidates each year to compete for admission.
