Hmm, so basically you just didn't rat on a friend with a fake id.

This all depends on 2 things.
1. Was he of legal age, and what was he doing?

2. Did you puff out your chest, slam your hand on a desk and yell "I plea the fifth!" in a deep voice?

Both of these are vital

Depending how they look at this it could bring up the issue of integrity (how can they depend on you to do the "right thing" when you put friendship over values). Just a different view from a former Police Officer.

Misdemeanor being a problem

He may want to call a lawyer and see about having the charges expunged from his record if possible...it may cost him a couple hundred bucks, but most judges and law enforcement officials will assist is he is planning on serving and he doesnt have a history with the PD. I know someone who had a similar issue with enlisting and thats what they did.

Just got a return call from a local AF PMS
he said should not be an issue, if it were the only
'run in with law enforcement'

The problem that he will see is when he goes for a security clearance he will have to acknowledge this incident.

The other problem is AFROTC scholarships are very competitive and it is going to be hard to get a good rec from the ALO, with this hanging over him.

The ALO interview does count towards the WCS. The ALO will rack and stack the candidates, and if it comes down between him and someone else, they are most likely going to pick the someone else.

He just needs to be upfront and honest, because that shows he did an immature thing based on his youth, but wised up very quickly and now is being mature about his mistake.
