Is there anything I can be lining up for the Feb 1 NASS Application (e.g., transcripts, letters, essays)?

The SS application is not very comprehensive. The main thing on it that I can remember is it asked for SAT/PSAT and/or ACT scores. Oh, and start working out if you haven't already. Never hurts to be in shape. Good luck.

Resume

The NASS application is obviously a lot more basic than the "real deal" that you will complete later on. However, I would suggest putting all of your accomplishments and activities into a resume format on your computer. My family keeps yearly folders of what all we did during each school year that contains certificates of achievement, report cards, anything you can think of. It made it extremely easy to organize all of my information into a resume so that I could then transfer it to all of the various applications. Remember you will have to complete an application to the academy, your congressman, two senators, not to mention whatever other schools you are applying to, and don't forget about scholarships! Make it easy on yourself, MAKE A RESUME!

Resume is a must have

Jump's suggestion is great. :thumb: You have to have a really good resume and I did what jump did. I started putting every certificate, award, etc in a box. If there was something in the paper, it went in the box. It made my resume so much easier. I also verified some stuff with my high school just to be sure.
Most of us are doing about 10 things at the same time, so it is easy to forget something important. Also, when people find out you are a candidate for any military academy, they want you to come and SPEAK to them. It is a good place to take a resume. Also update it! If something changes, or you earn another award, put it on there. As a high school senior, you go to alot of meetings with Rotary, civic clubs, etc, and it is good to get yourself out there. If you can, put a picture (small) on the first page. You want folks to remember WHICH one you are.

You will need it for your interviews as you work on a nomination, too. :thumb:

If you're deadset on going USNA, or any other SA for that matter, heres what I'd suggest:
It doesnt matter what date you apply to NASS, make sure you send in the best scores. If you know your upcoming SAT is better than your PSAT, then wait and send those scores.
The moment you find out you're accepted, tell your science, humanity, guidance counselor, and "your choice" teacher.
That way, they could write a letter of rec extremely early, and once you come back from NASS (or even before going to NASS) you could supply your CIS with those teacher's emails, and Navy will ask them for the letter of rec.
If you want to be recruited for a sport, tell your coach, and give him the form that comes with your NASS application. I did that for football.
That way you could have your entire USNA app done when you return from NASS, or if you dont go to NASS, the same week.
But as for the lining stuff up for the NASS application, dont worry too much, its really a no-stress application based on time; I applied one week before the deadline and was accepted to Session 1 (my first pick).
I'd also suggest taking the time to look at/apply to the other SA's Summer programs; they helped me choose USNA.

Make a Resume!!! This advice is right on the money. I suggest a bullet format resume that is not longer than 1 page. As I recall there is no specified space for a resume on the NASS application but there is a general information box that holds 500 characters.

Your application will be one of thousands that will be recieved and reviewed. A well written , and concise resume could make a difference beween you and somebody else.

Be aware and be prepared that you will have the opportunity to take the CFA at NASS and start working out for that eventuality. Check back and you will find several threads regarding the CFA, minimums, maximums, and workout suggestions. Do your homework; it will help you in maximizing the experience. Also, as a backup, I recommend you look at www.navysports.com for a summer sports camp... could be golden if you are a varsity athlete.
