I have seen many questions over the past year about the differences between AROTC and NROTC regarding applications, requirements, life in the program, etc. I thought it might be helpful to post here a little comparison chart I threw together. Unfortunately it is missiong a lot of information about AROTC specifics... if anyone has links to power points or releases from Cadet Command that might fill in the blanks, it is much appreciated.

I updated the few I know about. Total ROTC scholarships for class of 2014= 2579 Link

You can remove Chaplain, Special Forces, Dental, Vet from your list of basic branches and add Finance. no cadet goes directly into those fields upon commissioning. You can ask for an ed delay to go to advanced schooling in law or medicine, and you won't have a CA functional area until around Captain rank (that's Army Captain O4).

I would also tell you that some of your categories (like freshman orientation) are school/Battalion specific, so are hard to put in your chart.

Thanks for pointing out that the stipend for Navy is $100 less. And the book money is less too.

So interesting, you would think that each branch had the same stipend and book money, but obviously they don't!

The AF has the same stipend as the Army, but their book money does not match either of the two sister services, it is 900 a yr.

I guess it comes down to the strategic personnel planning of the services.

thanks guys. I did update my spreadsheet, and just so that in the future people don't get bogged down with a draft that I cannot now revise, let's kill this thread.

I will post a revised, updated comparison in a new thread.
