Has USCGA paid for your airfare to visit campus?

I was just curious if USCGA readily pays for a potential cadet's airfare to visit their campus? :confused:
 
To the best of my knowledge, no, airfare, taxis and hotel costs incurred to visit USCGA are the responsibility of the candidate and their family.
Reimbursement for travel costs for RDay are reimbursed to incoming Swabs (no payment for parents or siblings who travel with their son/daughter) and depending on the distance from New London may include plane/train, ground transport and hotel costs. Reimbursement is made to the Swab~4/c cadet's bank account, not to the parent.

There are one or two special programs that may reimburse travel costs, but in general I would plan to pay your own way to the Academy.

Travel to R-Day is reimbursed, as it is travel related to military orders.
 
Someone told me that USCGA was paying for he & his son's airfare to visit USCGA.
 
Again, there are one or two admissions programs that will pay/reimburse travel costs. The person who told you that USCGA was paying for airfare probably wasn't lying. But I would be lying if I told you that meant you would get the same thing. Depends on when you're trying to visit, whether you're visiting for a particular program and if so, what program you're visiting for.

There is no blanket policy or program to cover airfare and/or expenses on a CGA candidate visit. I believe that highly desirable candidates may be offered an allowance if financial hardships exist, however there is no hard-and-fast rule. I believe it is decided on a case-by-case basis and you should call the admissions office at (860) 444-8500 and speak to your AO.
