If my ALO hasn't contacted me in several months since the last time we spoke with each other, despite me sending numerous emails, should I look to contact an ALO from another place? And I'd also like to know if it is necessary for the ALO to give an interview with applicants/candidates, or if the ALO is simply playing an "advisor" role by helping applicants through the application process.

Your ALO most interview you if you are an applicant. Are you saying that you're an applicant, and you haven't been interviewed yet by your ALO? Is your application complete? Does it say complete online? I recommend 2 things.

1. Monday: Call your academy counselor, and ask him/her the status of your application. See if there's anything missing or not completed. Also mention to them that you haven't had any contact from your ALO in several months. Your counselor can also tell you if your assigned ALO did the air force form 4060. You can also ask the counselor for the name/number of your LOD (Liaison Officer Director) who is in charge of your ALO and district.

2. Contact Steve (Flieger83) on this forum. I have access to who your ALO is, but Steve can get you access to the LOD or another ALO in your area.

You really need to get things moving. Definitely contact Steve and then your counselor on Monday. Maybe your ALO did a 4060 based on your package without interviewing you. "Unlikely, but possible". But you do need the interview. Best of luck. Mike....
 
Thank you for the help, sir! No, I haven't applied yet, as I've just started the second semester of my junior year, but the last time i heard from my ALO was during my sophomore year, so I just wanted to clear up the matter before I really needed to get an interview/anything else from him when I begin the application process. Also, can a school's/region's ALO change? When I last heard of my ALO, he was promoted to major, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

OK; so lets regroup for a second. Officially; you won't become an applicant until this June/July when you start filling out the forms and your application. Until then, there won't be any interview from your ALO. And you not hearing from them is not something you should really worry about. There are two things you must realize. ALO's don't normally have just 1 or 2 applicants. They have many. And between the months of around July to February, these ALO's are very busy with the applicants trying to get into the academy this cycle. Also; ALO's for the most part are all volunteers. They have other "Paying" jobs. Being an ALO may be a 10, 20, or more hour per week activity, but it's not their full time paying job. So you have to realize that they have a lot on their plate. Your ALO may have changed, but don't worry about it now. It really doesn't matter until you're a actual applicant.

I'm glad that you're still a junior in high school. I was under the impression that you were an applicant, and thus were way behind the eight ball here. You have plenty of time. Once you become an "Official" applicant, your ALO will definitely be in contact with you. Best of luck, mike....

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me, sir! Time to just keep up my grades until the time comes then. . .:tomcat:
 
CC is right on the money with his advice...let's take it even a bit further from the ALO's mind.

Every yr the AFA have @10K kids opening a PCQ, from there about 6K will get selected to be an applicant That is a lot of weeding out of potential candidates.

Additionally since ALO's are a volunteer position and some are still AD, the ALO for class of 15 may not be the ALO for 16.

Like CC stated you have time. FWIW ALOs do not get their official list of applicants until the end of June/1st of July. Trust me the day those ALO letters come down, you will see the board light up like a xmas tree asking what's next on my to do list?

I wouldn't worry about it, your ALO doesn't really come into the picture until the summer b4 senior year/ early senior year. He will be your voice to the board, so show him that you're interested but don't pester him haha.
