Will making too many B's kill you?

Even though I used to make almost all A's exclusively, I am currently sitting on 4 B's and 2 A's in yearlong courses. 2 of the B's may be pulled up to a low A by improving in the second semester, but the other 2 will likely remain as B's or high B's. They are all IB/AP courses.
However, 2 of the B's are in AP BC Cal and IB Bio.
My general academic stats: 3.84/ 4.7 GPA, 8/255, my ranking may drop a few spots, but should still be in the top 5 percent.

ACT: comp-31, Math-33, English with writing 30, Science 33, Reading 27

Am I still in a desirable standing to be competitive academically for an appointment despite not getting all A's?

You are taking hard classes as a junior, especially AP BC Calc, which, most of the time, seniors at my high school take. In addition, you are doing well in them. And finally, you are ranked 8th out of your 255 peers. Remember, your overall class rank is more important to admissions than your GPA. You are working hard, and if you can pull those grades to A's, that will be more favorable for you. But if you can't, maintain the B and keep up your class rank.

Looks very good for ACT. GPA is outstanding. Admissions evaluates schools through those fmiliar with the area and school history (I think). BGO's are usually familiar with applicant schools and area (hard school, easy school, easy course load and courses taken. (Prep vs Public with or without AP classes). ACT seems pretty good but I would suggest SAT Scores. Don't need all A's but do the best and good luck. You look good. B's dont kill you.

Based upon this post you are probably Academially Qualified to apply.

The GPA and everything is good to know, however with the inflation of GPA and variety of scales the class rank and standardized testing scores play a much more important role.

Regarding ACT scores, does USNA give any consideration to the science and reading scores? I know only math and English are listed on the candidate application but wondering if it is part of the WCS?

I do not know the answer but I have observed how some MOC's websites ask for the complete score report for nominations.
