Hello. This will be an easy one.

I see many post with candidates stating they are 2Q or 3Q'd. My question is where is that posted? Or does that information come in the form of a letter?

My sons CIS portal is all I am aware of and nothing has changed there for nearly a month. We see no spaces where "current status" would obviously appear so if anyone can assist it will be appreciated.

Thanks.

My son received a letter from USNA stating that he was board qualified to compete for an appointment now. He has 2 nominations but other than that his portal did not change at all.

My son received a scholastically qualified letter last fall, and just received his nomination from his MOC. His BGO confirmed that he was 3Q. That's how we found out.

Generally, this is "officially" conveyed via letter. HOWEVER ...it seems that administrivia not always being the strong suit of USNA admissions, a significant number of de facto 3Qed are left to discern such on their own, via BGO or admissions calls. In other words, relatively frequently, it seems, the form letter is not always generated/sent.

Now, ColtDad ...is your stage name a euphemism for "YoungStud?" :hammer::rolleyes:

Or have you another lad who was QBed @ Longhorn U prior to being sent to the Cleveland gulag?:shake::thumb:

DS also received scholastically qualified letter in the fall and called USNA admissions to confirm the medical and physical components were in order.

Thanks for the information.

It appears that we are not inadvertantly missing posted information.

Apparently qualification status is ascertained thru detective work.

As to the moniker, it basically comes from being severely imagination challenged and not being able to come up with anything clever. Youngest son is football player for youth league team called the Colt's. Pitiful, I know.

When my DS went through the process, he too, received his 3Qed info by mail. You are in a position that many of us were in at this time last year. Waiting for any news that would bring our sons and daugthers closer to their dream of entering the USNA. This will probably be a long month. Don't get discouraged. Hopefully no news is good news and you will hear more once February rolls around and things start happening. Good luck.

Yes, it takes a bit of detective work. Often the scholastically part comes via letter. Often, but not always. The medical Q is DoDMERB. The third Q is physical....how candidate did on the CFA. Your BGO should know that part if you cannot figure it out by comparing your scores to those posted in the sticky above. Also, many candidates are notified if they do not meet the physical Q.

Just another fly in the ointment. Son is 3Q with nomination but waiting for first semester college transcript submission. Just one more thing over and above first time application (was 3Q with nomination last year but no appointment). This year Academy only had, I think, 65 appointments from prior college applicants so the odds get lower and lower but sill trying. You never know unless you try.:thumb:

For 2nd+ timers, I think the odds are much in your favor. Remember, the number of those re-applying isn't actually that high....so why they choose a few, they aren't picking from a big basket. Secondly, if you aren't the best test taker, the board is evaluating your college grades -- something that is much more in YOUR control than taking a standardized test. If you put the effort in college (including some extracurricular activities), chances are you might have a very good shot at an appointment.

For college applicants, they normally evaluate you at the same time. I wouldn't expect a board to convene for that until February....once all 1st semester transcripts are received.

I found through DoDMERB applicant status. It said NALOA received.
