Anybody out there from CA that got a nom yet?

...Preferably 15-Honda district but anyone else as well

Yes- from Congressperson Radanovich. I also have an interview with Senator Boxer this Saturday... Just Remember that they do not have to turn in their nomination list till the end of January. You would probably get more responses if you posted this in the nominations section of the forum though:thumb:

Son received a nom from Congressman Lewis (41) snail mail today.

F22F35: could you post your stats - son didn't get an interview from Boxer and just wondering the stats of those who were called. Thanks!

cryosk8trboi, awesome job on those tests.....those are some beastly scores.

I think I may have seen some people on here from California with appointments. I know for sure there's a few with noms from reps, including myself from CA-45, and I think one or two had an interview with Feinstein. I also have an interview with Boxer coming up on the 22nd.

Amen to that!

Son had an interview with Feinstein's office. Haven't heard from them yet.
Good luck to all 2015 hopefuls!

Boxer interviews

Thanks for sharing your info - based on both of your stats, son should have been in the running for an interview - wonder what other criteria may have been taken into play. Is it possible that they talk to the districts and determine who may have a better chance of getting a congressional nom - so as not to double up on noms - giving others a chance to get one? Just curious about the whole process.

BTW - here are his stats:

GPA 3.81 (unweighted - took numerous AP classes)
CR 730
Math 640
CW 670

USAFA Summer Seminar participant
Eagle Scout
California Boys State Delegate
Varsity Tennis - 3 years, lettered
Tennis Team Captain
Years Varsity Wrestling - 2 years, lettered
National Honor Society Member

Year round part time job
Many hours community service

I have congressional nominations in addition to an interview w/ Sen Boxer. Did your son have really good recommendations? I know the people who wrote mine knew me for years and also had seen me participate in leadership activities.... (Just a thought)

I was told that Boxer's people reach out to the districts to ask for the names of candidates who have received nominations. I'm not sure about Fenstein's.

Boxer noms

His recommendations were all from great sources - his tennis coach, scoutmaster, etc. - don't know what else it could be. He received a congressional nom so he's good.

Makes sense - thanks for the info!

Feinstein's office called to schedule an interview - son interviewed last month but haven't heard back yet. From So. Cal.

CA nominations

From the veteran Pima.....
In states like NY, CO, CA, TX, VA and FL it is common for the MOCs to "talk" because they spread the wealth of the noms. In other words it is so competitive that you are just happy to get 1 nom.

OK - this seems to be true!

I'm from very North Bay area. Got my Congressman nomination but no senator. Basically if you don't make that cut, you don't hear from them. Ever. At least I didn't. A little disheartening...

Hope everything's goin good for you otherwise, this process is long but I think worth it!

You're right about never hearing back. I never heard anything from Feinstein aside from the application received postcard. I understand it though. Our Senators get a lot of applications....I'd kind of actually be surprised if they sent out 500 or more letters saying, "Sorry, you weren't selected for an interview."

But hey, at least if you get the nomination they notify you. Unlike my congresswoman.

Hey you are so right:) (Both of you). I didn't know I received a nomination from my congressman until it showed up on the Academy websites...

Exactly! I had my interview for a nomination on 12/11, the academy received the nomination on 12/15, and I found out from looking at my USNA page on 12/25 and USAFA's was updated shortly after that. As of today, 1/20, a little over a month later, my congresswoman's office still hasn't notified me. Haha.
