I am a Junior in a Praivate Catholic School that has 90 students. My class size is 29 and I am 11th in ranking. I have a 3.8 GPA and took the ACT once and got a 25 composite. 30 reading. 26 Science. 23 English. 19 Math. I was wondering if this sounds like I have a shot of going to VMI?

Work on your math man, your reading is good but you need to work on your math. Take some prep classes and keep taking them! Good luck! :thumb:

thats my school's weakness is math. I haven't had a good math teacher till this semester. so i'm going to work on it. Do I need to take calculus?

I got accepted with a 3.7 GPA and 25 ACT. I think my math score was a little higher than yours though.

Im only taking through Pre calculus. (Im majoring in International studies)

I also played some sports and did Civil Air patrol, As far as I know VMI likes well rounded applicants. So you may want to make sure you have some extracurricular activities.

USMC- how many hours of Math you have to take really varies by Major. The minimum that you will have to take would be 2 semesters of Statistics if you have a major in one of the Liberal Arts- as an engineer you will wind up taking a lot more than that.
Attached link is to the Catalog which will spell out your course requirements by major: go to the button "The Curricula"

you'll get in for sure. i mean take a look at collegeboard.com . . . you can get in comfortably. I got in with a 3.6 (weighted) and 1140 sat (about a 25 ACT) if that makes you feel better

I appreciate all the information guys. I'm still working on figuring out if i'm enlisting or not. I think I might so I can get in faster. I just want to do my part as soon as possible. I'm hoping to make a career out of it.

Work on the English as well as math too but also don't be impulsive and say I want to get in as soon as possible. Take your time and think it over carefully. Talk to carrer enlisted soldiers as well as officers and see which you like better. Good luck and god bless!:thumb:
