Are you disqualified from going to the academy if you have ever been drunk? Even if you were of legal age to drink?

Lmao their not going to DQ you for ever being drunk in your life and of legal age. lol
 
If you are of legal age, then this is a 'non event' unless you have an alcohol PROBLEM.

Hint...even if you're of legal age...get a DUI/DWI/Other Alcohol Related Incident and you WILL have to report it.

And then, even if DODMERB isn't interested (and I can't speak for them as I'm not a DODMERB official) the admissions folks WILL want to know about it.

And you can guarantee the ALO will ask about it...

The question you will be asked by DoDMERB on your medical history form is: "Have you ever or do you now use any of the following: (Alcohol - Amount, Frequency, Treatment if any)."

An applicant who has been drunk, would answer YES and would explain in detail the amount, frequency, treatment, if any....In other words, they would explain in detail the circumstances of their drinking event(s)/pattern.

Any misconduct associated with alcohol, would also be included in NOT only that statement, but on the Admissions forms for Service Academies and application packages for ROTC scholarships:thumb:
 
With regard to Flieger83's comment:

ALO is Air Liaison Officer, if you are applying to USAFA. The other Academies have their own officers (e.g. - Blue and Gold for USNA)

ROTC will have officers that interview you also. They "may" be those above or depending on circumstances, they may be ROTC officers assigned to an ROTC Battalion/Detachment.

So would you be considered "of bad moral charachter," if you have been drunk?

Wow, I am surprised that someone would even go there...alcohol? My DS would not even take an aleve or tylenol or anything...was always worried about if it was a bad thing, and would it hurt his ability to be a pilot, navigator etc. Cough syrup labels were closely looked at, etc. No caffeine, either. Alcohol has never been a thought. I hope DS's mindset continues.
 
mforesta - Why don't we settle with this. The reason we conduct a history, medcial, and optometric exam is to evaluate the results when the time comes. The explantaions below are very clear. When the time comes, you answer honestly and completly and we'll evaluate the results:thumb:
