I had a hearing loss around 20 %. I got surgery which reduced it to 3 %. My doctor said that I am not limited to any thing, like certain altitudes or limited by physical activity. Will this hinder me with my DoDMERB ?

It all depends on what kind of surgery you had. If you can find out and let me know I can give you a better idea.

Work done to the ear drum, they think there was a hole in it really, they told me a lot of USAF pilots have that kind of operation done. MY doctor says it wont interfere with job activitys and will not hinder me in the sense that I can go to different alltitudes or with pressure on my ears and such.

So was it a tympanoplasty? Where they place a patch on the tympanic membrane to patch the hole?

The way my doctor told me, It was sort of like a perforated ear drum, which was resulting in hearing loss, he put a patch on the hole and that resulted in better hearing and no limitations. I hope to contract with army rotc, i am active in sports and such, and as i said before have no medical limits, do you think this will cause a prolbem for me ? My doctor that did the operation is working on a letter i plan to send in with my redemials, he is a expert on ears and specializes in this area he works for one of the best hospitals in the state, and agreed I will not have any problems doing any army related activity as he stated in the letter i will be sending in

It sounds like it was a tympanoplasty. If that the case, and the surgery was more than 120 days ago, there should be no issues as long as it healed and your hearing is within the limits.

just for laughs how bad dose my hearing have to be not to get the wavier ?

If your physician states that your hearing is normal you will not have any issues. You would have to have a moderate hearing loss for there to possibly be any issues.
