Anyone else from California have their interview today? My congressional one was in person and went great. The Senator Feinstein one was over the phone and kind of a disaster . Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Did Feinstein set anything up in advance? Or just call?

One of her staff members called last week and set it up. It wasn't actually Feinstein though, it was a colonel and a something I didn't hear cause of the crappy connection.

CA-42

DS received phone call this week. Nomination for USMA.

I never got a call from Senator Feinstein's office, but I do have an interview soon for a potential Air Force Academy nomination from Senator Boxer. I was surprised to get a call so late.

When did you get a call from Senator Boxer's office?

I don't remember the exact day, but it was around January 5th, maybe a bit later.

Yeah I got mine a bit before Christmas. For a USNA nom. I was surprised that her office is doing the interviews so late in January.

Received congressional noms to both USNA and USAFA, and have a phone interview with Sen Boxer on the 22. I didn't hear anything from Sen Feinstein's office though.... Any tips on Sen Boxer's interviews?

That's exactly the exact same position I'm in. Never heard anything from Senator Feinstein, but have an interview with Senator Boxer and was nominated by my rep. I have a feeling Senator Boxer and Senator Feinstein talk in order to "spread the wealth."

That might be true :)

My Congressmen doesnt open his until march

I think that your Congressman opens their applications in March for the class entering next year, in June 2012. For my congressperson, they opened the portal in April 2010 for hopefuls of the class entering 2011.

Clarification...they are talking about opening the board for next yr in March, not submitting the noms for this yr in March.

Becareful of submitting too early because it could make your packet weaker when compared to people who wait until Sept....this would allow them time to submit higher SAT/ACTs, ECs and more recent grades.

Noms are not given on a rolling basis of 1st come 1st serve. They will not give one nom out until after that deadline date, which is usually in October.

Additionally, you will not know if you are an applicant to any SA until June time frame. Again, the SA's do not do PCQ results on a rolling basis. The person who submits April 1st will find out the exact same time as the person who submits May 15th.

In other words you could be spinning your wheels applying for a nom, and never making the cut from prospective to applicant.

Really? Because I went to senator Thompsons office about a month ago and I was instructed to turn my app in as soon as possible for a better chance. She said that the like the usafa app turning in apps soon as possible is best...
