Hi all,

Do any of you know the current availability of GRFD scholarships? I have been notified by the Captain at my school's ROTC program that all scholarships have been put on hold until further notice.

I'm starting my 2-year graduate program this Fall.

Thanks.

When you say "On Hold" is he just talking about the GRFD scholarships. New National scholarships have just been offered this week.

She said all scholarships were on hold; and she said she won't know if GRFD scholarships will be available until May.

Any thoughts about this?

I would tell you that none of us "ROOs" know what the future holds. Your ROO is probably just taking a cautious approach. I'm doing the same thing, although I'm not really using the words "on hold". What I plan to continue to do is get every cadet I can qualified, if they are interested in becoming an officer, and then be ready to send up names ASAP if our Brigade says funds become available. There are no guarantees or entitlements these days. We are doing the best we can given the constraints and uncertainty. I would tell you that historically GRFD money is not difficult to get, because most cadets want to keep Active Duty on the table. Once the budget is solidified I'm going to guess GRFD money will become available, but don't bet the bank on it.
