I was just notified this afternoon that I have been offered an Air Force ROTC scholarship. I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief up here because I finally have a concrete backup plan! My question is how much of an indicator is this of my chances of getting into USAFA?? Being offered a scholarship has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not I will get into the academy right?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

No bearing at all.

AFROTC board occurs in Alabama.

AFA board occurs in CSprings.

This is an AFA forum, so I don't want the waters to get muddy on how the system works for each. Suffice it to say, there are AFA cadets that don't get AFROTC scholarships and AFROTC scholarship recipients that don't get AFA apptmts.

2 different boards, 2 different set of regs.

The only commonality is WCS is the decision making factor....assuming you are 3 q.

Thanks for the info! That's what I suspected but you guys know more about the process then I do and I wanted another opinion. I guess I'll take it as a good indicator of my chances, I hear ROTC is very competitive this year. Just gotta keep my head up and keep believing! :thumb:

Yes, our son is in the same boat. I asked the same question to his ALO a few weeks back. We are very glad that he has a Plan B but really hoping on the Plan A (the Academy!).

Good luck to you and your son! heres hoping that we both make it out to the academy this summer! :thumb:

According to the website, I did not get the scholarship :frown:
So here's to hoping that they are really two different worlds when it comes to applications

Sorry to hear that! I've come to the conclusion that playing the waiting game is by far the worst and most nerve racking part of this whole process for me. It's going to be a miracle if I don't drive myself crazy before April!

I got into the academy but I didn't get the scholarship either. Good luck!

Glad to hear it's happened before
I still have some hope. I'm trying to reassure myself, while still not setting myself up for too much disappointment. Oh the fun. My PFA was much worse than my CFA, so maybe that'll work out in my favor
