Waitlisted for Summer Seminar?

Hi! Alright so I applied on December 1st for the Summer Seminar, but I didn't put my ACT/SAT scores in because I hadn't taken them. I took them both in January, and got the scores back but I completely forgot to put them in my app.. so I remembered yesterday and put them in and I checked today and it says waitlisted....
just wondering if i'm waitlisted do I have ANY chance of even going?

You do, happened to me last year.
I got a call on 23MAR10 saying if I was okay being waitlisted, in my case, being it so late, I would have to take any session open, I said yes. Several hours later, they called me again and told me I was accepted for the Summer Seminar. So, you've got a very good chance, just keep on waiting.
 
I am on the same boat as you.
Patience is the key i guess..even though Ive been waiting since january haha :)
 
you have a better chance than me haha. It still says my application is under consideration
 
I don't think you guys have a chance...they're actually cancelling summer seminar due to budget cuts and the lack of quality applicants.

that's a big statement to make with no source, quote, or any indication of proof. Care to give your source?
 
EOL isn't serious, don't worry.
DS was waitlisted and eventually accepted to SS. Almost everyone I heard that was waitlisted actually ended up with a SS slot.

I was waitlisted since December as well, and just found out today that I received an offer, which unfortunately I have to deny because of conflict with USMA SLS and NASS. However, just check everyday (I did, I got so paranoid!) If you rocked your SATs and ACTs, I am sure you will be accepted! Best of luck!

That sounds reasonable, last year they accepted close to about 1070 people for summer seminar, although they were looking for 750. Although I highly doubt they will be cancelling summer seminar due to the budget cut, they could be keeping a safeguard as to not accept another 1070 people, it's all speculation though. no...this is serious business. next year summer seminar is probably going to get scrubbed. the academy is sick of poor applicants and cadets fratting with the seminarees.
 
EOL i heard that there were a record number of Applicants this year and guys im in the same boat as most of you

I am seriously questioning your source. This forum is designed to provide helpful, accurate information for applicants. The moderators are here to make sure that the information posted by users is indeed accurate. Since you are fairly new to the forums, and appear to be a candidate yourself, I have reservations about how you would know this information, when none of the other people on here, with much closer ties to the Academies, have heard. Can you please explain where you have heard this, and why you feel that it is credible information?

Well, I guess my DS is in the same boat as a lot of people. I just hope he gets notified soon that he got into the SS. I have been reading some of the threads and this seems like an awesome way to get information and speak with other parents who are going through exactly what I am going through:redface: Let's hope all your status' change from WAITLIST to accepted--real soon!!
 
You should probably find out soon. I've been "under consideration" for several weeks and today I found out I was waitlisted. Hopefully that'll change to accepted soon. =(

As one of those "guys" that deals directly with USAFA/RR and USAFA/RRS, I have NO indications of what you speak.

So unless you're Colonel Carol Benyshek in disguise, I'm guessing you don't have a source and are either repeating something you heard "third, fourth, or fifth handed" and that is, as Stealth81 said, not terribly helpful to the forum.

While I appreciate your wanting to help folks, unless you have a verifiable source (I will be happy to take it offline, but I can speak directly tomorrow with the correct folks including Colonel Benyshek since I work for her) I would request you not post things that might simply "spin people up" for no good reason.

And FYI, as of my commanders meeting on Friday, March 17th, USAFA/RRS is having a tough time filling the SS slots because of:

a. Quantity of applicants
b. Quality of applicants
c. Limit on the number of slots that can be filled

Can anyone tell us how long of a wait there is when you're on the waitlist before you'll know one way or the other?
 
I was informed two days ago that I have been put on the waitlist. I would like to know two things: 1) Could anyone tell me what kind of a chance I have to be able to attend the Summer Seminar at this point. 2) When should I be hearing back to know whether or not I am able to attend. Thank you ahead of time.
