I just received a letter from the AFROTC offering me a type 7 scholarship. The problem is that there are no AFROTC schools in Maine. I've narrowed my choices down to Norwich and UNH (leaning toward Norwich at this point). Does anyone know if I need to change to a three year type 2 scholarship in order to use it at either of these schools? To complicate matters I just received notice of my scholarship today and my acceptance deadline is March 22nd! For what its worth both of these schools are just a backup plan. My number one is the Air Force Academy but most of us regular applicants wont hear anything until close to, if not, April! :frown:

Any thoughts?

first and foremost, accept the scholarship, then figure out the details. Congratulations!

Thanks! I know that after accepting the scholarship I can drop it to go to the Academy if I'm accepted. But after accepting the scholarship can I change from a type 2 to a type 7 and vice versa? Or is that decision final as soon as I accept?

Congrats on the AFROTC offer, first of all. Things seem to have been pretty tough in terms of scholarships this year across the board, from what I can see.

My advice would be to accept the offer at Norwich, if you intend on going to the Air Force Academy. It's not Colorado Springs, but it's the closest thing to it on your list. If you get accepted into the AF Academy, that'll be awesome, but it always helps to have a back-up plan that is similar in intensity and experience. If you go Corps of Cadets, you WILL get that much.

Contact the detachment at each school. they will either have the answers you need or will find out for you. Also, contact the financial aid office at each school to determine which type is of most benefit to you.
