I just received a letter from the AFROTC offering me a type 7 scholarship. The problem is that there are no AFROTC schools in Maine. I've narrowed my choices down to Norwich and UNH (leaning toward Norwich at this point). Does anyone know if I need to change to a three year type 2 scholarship in order to use it at either of these schools? To complicate matters I just received notice of my scholarship today and my acceptance deadline is March 22nd! For what its worth both of these schools are just a backup plan. My number one is the Air Force Academy but most of us regular applicants wont hear anything until close to, if not, April!

Any thoughts?

I'd say go ahead and accept it. If you get accepted into the USAFA you can always inform AFROTC and they'll hand that scholarship to someone else.
I was in your shoes last year because I had accepted an AFROTC scholarship, but turned it down a week afterwards because I got my acceptance letter to the CGA :thumb:

Sound advice.

Thanks for the info guys. It is sound advice and that's what I'll do. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! But is it just me or is it a bit ridicules to be offered a scholarship that I would never have a chance to use in the state of Maine? A type 7 has to be used at an in state public university, none of which offer AFROTC in the state of Maine!

AFROTC Scholarship

Sorry I missed your thread last week. If you still have questions I would recommend contacting the Norwich AFROTC office.
