Hello all. Just recieved my official letter from AFROTC today and was awarded a 4 year Type 7 scholarship and I have a few questions regarding the form that I need to turn in. First off, I know that a Type 7 can only be used at a school where I am eligible for in-state tuition unless I transfer it to a 3 year Type 2. However, the out of state school I plan to attend has some subsidies available to me. I plan on attending West Virginia University and this is straight from the Air Force Website:
West Virginia University offers out-of-state type 2 and type 7 AFROTC high school scholarship winners a tuition waiver for any costs that exceed the amount of the AFROTC scholarship. Additionally, all incoming AFROTC high school scholarship winners receive a room and board scholarship consisting of a double-occupancy room and a 19-meal plan, for as long as the student maintains their AFROTC scholarship and the student lives on campus. The WVU Alumni Association also offers scholarships each year through the Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund to deserving Air Force ROTC cadets from West Virginia, based on merit.
So my question now, is what do I do about the form I need to turn in? The form asks if I want to accept the type 7 scholarship or transfer it to a 3 year type 2 scholarship. What do I do? I want to accept the scholarship but I want to go to WVU where the additional tuition will be waived.
Also, I was offered for a technical major. The major that I applied and got accepted to for all my schools is Biology. But, Biology is not considered a technical major. The form has a list of technical majors and I do not have a problem changing my major to one included in the list such as Environmental Engineering. Should I contact the school or the AF about this to see what I can do about my major?
Thanks in advance and hope everyone has a wonderful day!
