I thought I'd make a thread for those of us who know that our parents most likely will not be able to attend I-Day with us. :) My name is Emily. If you want to look me up on facebook PM me and I'll give you my full name. We can make a group so that we can get to know each other better. Actually, any acceptee is more than welcome to PM me. We'll be a big family soon anyway. :)

:( I'm really sorry you won't have your parents at I-Day. Is there at least one person that can come with you?

Wootwoot, I'll be parentless as well! We should definitely make a group. I'll PM you and people can PM me as well.

My parents will be going to A-Day and Parents' Weekend but not I-Day.
I actually do not want them to come to I-Day because then I can meet the Academy more relaxed and more focused.

No one can come. But I'm okay with that, mostly. It'll be tough on the plane ride to Colorado. However, I'd rather get whatever crying will be done out of the way before I get to the Academy that way I can be more focused when i arrive.

I'l join the group when I get my BFE. No way my rents are coming.

I can't wait for you to get your BFE! It's such an amazing feeling.

I think this sounds like a very good idea. There will be plenty of time for us to get into our "zone".

If the group is open to it, I'm sure many of us parents would be willing to adopt all of you for the day.....my wife and I already have 4 kids....what's a few more? If my son gets an appointment, then we will be in touch......:thumb:

Sign up for the AOG's Bed & Breakfast program. It will make your night before I-day much more pleasant. It is a great program.

I did the bed and breakfast program. I didn't want my parents coming so I said good bye at the airport. It made it a lot easier to focus when I got there

Going to prep school this year, but I'm pretty sure my parents won't be able to make it out to visit me until Parent's weekend. Do they have that for preppies? Sorry, kinda a noob at things like this. Also, what is A-Day? Anyone know the dates of parents weekend this year? I was told that if your parents are going, it is best to make hotel reservations like now because otherwise they won't have a place to stay.

I'm still waiting eagerly for the BFE! I am one of seven children and have already spent two years in college, so the combo of my parents being busy with the family and already doing my time away from home makes it difficult/unnecessary for them to come. I think it will be easier to just say goodbye in Boston instead of drawing it out ya know

I'm in the same boat. I'll be saying good bye to my grandmother at the airport in Atlanta and hopefully doing the AOG bed & breakfast program. Y'all feel free to PM, I'd love to get to know some of y'all. :)

I am pretty sure anyone can do the bed an breakfast program, including preppies. A day is acceptance day, and it marks the end of basic and the basic cadet's acceptance into the cadet wing as fourth class cadets. There is a parade and a lot of parents come. As far as parent's weekend, it is Friday Spetember 2nd until Monday September 5th and yes, I believe my parents made reservations before they left last year.

Can someone explain what the bed and breakfast program throught the AOG is? I understand the purpose, but how do you get more info. on it? Does it come w/ the 2nd BFE?

Basically, from what I understand, is you arrive on the 22nd. If you don't have parents with you, you sign up through the AOG to get a host family who will pick you up from the air port, take you home, sleep over, feed you breakfast, then take you to Inprocessing. They can be staff at USAFA, local families, etc. You sign up online after you recieve your flight iteniary from the travel office or when you buy your own ticket. There's explinations and instructions in the 2nd BFE.

I posted this on another thread a few days ago. It's where you can actually register for the B&B program.

"Here's a link to the Association of Graduates website with a blurb on inprocessing. There's a link on that page to register for the B&B program. DD participated last year."

This is my DS's preference, too. But we'll be out in August for A-day and to visit some friends and relatives up around the Poudre.

Chances are my parents won't be able to come during I Day or the rest of Parent "Days", since they are stationed in Portugal. So I'm most likely doing the Bed and Breakfast Program.

I just sent in the acceptance form from the first BCT, how long does it take for them to send the airline ticket?

I haven't sent back my acceptance of appointment, but I'm pretty sure the sheet says you'll get your ticket in early June. My question is, does that mean that's when you find out airline/airport/terminal/time? Or is that earlier? Because I want to sign up for the B and B sooner than later.... idk. This week has been a whirlwind hah.
