My son has wanted to attend the USMA forever and was recently accepted to the SLS. He plays lacrosse and hopes to play for Army. He was experiencing hip pain and was diagnosed with a hip impringement. He will probably have arthroscopic surgery done this summer after the season and the SLS. The doctor says once he's fixed up he'll be good to go. Is this a problem? What should we be doing about it? He has the same latent condition in the other hip, but no pain.

Hi!

Only a DODMERB expert (like Mr Larry Mullen or one of his staff) can actually tell you the "letter of the law, etc." as regards anything for DODMERB clearance. And they'll tell you that "every case is individually reviewed: no two are the same."

And from my career ALO experiences...that's 100% dead-on-accurate. :thumb:

What I will say is this: you will DEFINITELY need to report this and I am going to "guess" that DODMERB will require more information (surgeons diagnosis, method of treatment, outcome, etc.) and more to make their determination.

They are SUPERB at working with you on things like this. Do NOT be afraid of giving them ALL you can when requested; they're the folks that will help you get the "QUALIFIED" label if that is possible.
