Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

vamom...i very rarely answer a call from a number that I don't know. I hate to getting tricked into answering a sales call..lol. BUT on Monday morning when our phone rang, it was simply a number that I didn't recognize with no name attached to it, just location (Savannah). I looked at it for about 3 rings, and said.."ugh, alright, I'll answer" Glad I did, it was our Congressman. He was calling from his cell phone (not his office) :biggrin:
 
Remember not to ignore the 202 area code...202 is DC!

WAIT (this is my attempt to do the symbol for "repeat" over the wait :) OH, and here is a useless piece of info while you "wait"...that symbol (bar) is called the vinculum bar. Might as well learn something while we stalk and wait......

As a math teacher, I was suprised that someone used "vinculum" in a correspondence on the forums. :thumb: Way to educate us, Vamom!!! :thumb: I hope you (your DS) get a call or letter from your congressman followed by a BFE.

I love the amount of parents we have on here! You guys are great:thumb: I am ellated that so many of our parents are supportive(including mine). I really went through the application process on my own and my mother had little involvement. However, now that I am stalking the mailbox and VM box I have turned her to the darkside.

To all of you parents who have become enveloped in the mailbox stalking ceremonies please go embrace your DD or DS because they do not realize how much you love them. And thank from the bottom of my heart for being there for all of us. The solid bond that is being formed among us makes me excited to get that BFE and join this group. :biggrin:
 
OH, and to Dad, I'm sorry that called the "vinculum" useless. Of COURSE it's not useless! LOL
 
funny story to occupy our time until mail arrives

So...last Thurs evening the family(DS 1 & 2, DH and me) all seated around the dinner table catching up on the events of the day when the phone rings; I say "son, don't answer that, we're having dinner". Reply, "But, Mom, I think it might be for me...its a DC area code!" All of us held our breaths...my life actually flashed before my eyes. Son answers, "Hello", caller responds with automated "This is Mike Huckabee with an opportunity for you to participate in a survey...". Holy Cow what a let down. I was a mess for the rest of the evening. I am so mad at Mr. Huckabee!

Life goes on and we wait :wink:
 
Hello to all fellow "stalkers", I haven't posted before. Our DS is in the same boat as many of you. I checked our mail today and nothing but our Academy Checkpoints Alumni Magazine. It was from Colorado, but not exactly the package we were hoping for!! We will check again tomorrow.
 
I know my mailman personally (I mow his lawn) and he offered to call me if he finds a BFE from the Academy in the mail for me. Mail doesnt get to my house till 1:30, but now I know I can get a phone call first thing in the morning if it's there.

Yes, I know this takes it over the top but I don't care...
 
That is great! Maybe I should call our mailman, his oldest son is a senior with my 2015 Canidate!!
 
I think you win the prize! Good thinking! Our mail doesn't get to our house until 3:30. I am sick of only seeing bills and other colleges that are STILL sending out "come to our school". :eek:
 
Welcome to the parents we have drawn out via this thread! I actually have a headache knowing those envelopes are traveling across the country. Went to noisy girls' lunch. Phone accidentally went to silent (I had ALL the phones forwarded to my cell). I see an out of state area code. I google it. I call it. In my sweetest voice I leave message for whoever it is to call me back because I can't understand the recording. So some vendor is probably all happy he has a sap he reel in. I can't wait to we see some parents come online today with mailbox news. Shout it out! Be proud! The stories you are posting are so funny! So cute! So real! Keep them coming. Reporting in......
 
Mail just came - nothing but ads. Why do you think they said (on the FB admissions page) that we should start looking for an envelope on Monday? If they were mailed yesterday - shouldn't they begin arriving tomorrow? And some even today? Appt. thread's awful quiet though...

To allow a couple of days for regular mail to take its course. However, some mail state to state comes next day (if you are lucky),,,some takes a couple of days. So YES, feel free to get that lawn chair and lemonade out by the mail box! You never know! Good luck..

A lemonade stand! What a great idea!!! And with that disguised purpose, I could be right next to my mailbox when the mail arrives without my neighbors thinking that I've got early Alzheimer's walking out there three times a day... Thank you Tailwind Angel!!!:yllol::yllol:
 
So my husband just called after checking the mailbox and he said!!!!
"We got the BFE....but it was a BFE from the insurance company."
Should I kill him when I get home or just do a torture session???
Accepting suggestions at this time...

Last week I would have tortured for that remark. This week - definitely go in for the kill!!!
 
So funny YMG! Hubby just called as I breathlessly whispered.........Y....E.....S????? Nope, he told me the roast was still frozen in the crockpot and needed another 4 hours to cook. So reporting in from my post............NO BFE IN THE MAIL TODAY for us. Please let tomorrow come quickly. Coughing up a fur ball. Looking for Advil.
