Has anyone on this forum from GA received a appointment with the nominating source of Senator Saxby Chambliss?? I know there are only going to be a few people on this forum from GA, but i just wanted to try and see!! thanks!:thumb:

My daughter had a nomination from Saxby Chambliss...but I believe was appointed under our Congressman.....She knows of another girl that had a nomination from Mr Chambliss as well...but received her appointment from her Congressman. I believe that another person on this forum mentioned a nom from Mr Chambliss as well...but got the call from their Congressman. SO- of the ten nominations that he gave out, I believe you can cross at least 3 off that list. I hope that helps!

My son is the third one she is talking about. He is in the 10th district, and got his call from the Congressman on Tuesday.

Wow!! that helps alot! I received a nomination from Senator Chambliss, but did not receive one from my congressman because they relieved that I had received one from him. I hope this opens up more spots for me! I am still waiting for an appointment!

usafacademy4...I'm rooting for you  Until my DD got the call, I was working all kinds of mathematical strategies out on how this could work...i do know that he had 10 noms and I think 4 alternates SO...with 3 gone...looks like you are competing with 6 others...

I think you are confused about how the nomination and appointment system works. Senator Chambliss most likely picked one person as his principal nomination and 9 other alternates. The principal nominee, if triple qualified, automatically receives an appointment. The 9 other alternates, if triple qualified and have a certain WCS, are automatically placed on a national waiting list. This national waiting list is where most of the people receive their appointments. It does not matter one bit if someone from the 9 other alternates receive an appointment because its possible for all 9 of them to receive appointments. I hope that clears things up. I'm also from Georgia and waiting on appointment. I received a nomination from Isakson though. My congressman elected not to nominate me because I already had a nomination. I am kind of confused on that process because I hear that having two nominations definitely helps towards getting an appointment.

We're from GA as well; Distrct 06-Tom Price. We were told that the congressmen and senators in our state "talk" and don't nominate the same candidates. So, if you have a nomination from your congressman then the senators will not nominate you. Also, I don't believe that Isakson and Chambliss use the principal nomination method. Best of luck!

Most congressmen actually do nominate the same candidates. There are only a handful that don't. District 3 Westmoreland is one who doesn't. I actually know for a fact that Isakson does use the principal nomination method because Isakson's principal nominee goes to my school haha :).

EDIT: Ah, ok. I read too fast. It could be that most in our state do talk and don't nominate the same candidates. I was under the impression that most do from this site. I know at least some do because some of the people in this very thread received two nominations from Georgia MOCs.

My understanding is that the states that are very competitive do talk so that the opportunity for the SA's is made available to as many qualified applicants as possible. In Virginia, for example, they talk.

Yes, that is what I heard! The principal nominee is from McIntosh! But, unlike Isakson, I believe Chambliss runs on the competitive slate process. If this is true, that is great news for me!:thumb:
