Hi all,
I recently visited the Citadel Scholar competition on March 4, and I just found out that I received a partial scholarship. For anyone who was there and wondering why I got mine early, I e-mailed them because I was going to be out of town for spring break when the letter would come. But anyways, I'm pretty stoked! My question is, does anyone know exactly how much money the partial scholarship entails? I'm sure it explains it in the letter, but I won't see that for a week or two and I'm pretty anxious to know. Also, my brother told me that people on Academic scholarships receive a blue(I think) ribbon for their uniform, would I get one for this?
Thanks a lot!

Congrats!

That is fantastic that you were awarded a partial...my DS and I went down for the visit/competition as well... still waiting... called and then said his letter was on the way. Don't know how much a partial scholarship is other than the New England Aiken Scholarship which is 3 full years... where are you from? It was a great visit and my DS really enjoyed the competition.

It varies. My DS got a scholar award of $5,000 a year. Technically, you can get them up to and full tuition and fees.

OK, this is news to me because I assumed it was an all or nothing competition. I am just learning that these kinds/amounts of scholarships are being given out. Granted a scholarship is great and my DS has a few of them from other schools, including the awesome Presidential from Norwich totalling 18,000 per year. So, 5,000 from what we thought was the Citadel Full Scholarship competition would be a suprise. 5,000 is better than none at all but I thought there was much more at stake than that.

Just in case anyone was interested about the full scholarships:
6 per year are given to out of state students
another 18 are given to SC students.
This is according to The Citadel website.

Just found out I was one of the blessed/ lucky/ extremely happy ones!
Congrats to everyone who received a partial or full scholarship:)
