Had earlier post dealing with class sizes, getting your file done early, nominations, etc.

Left out one item... Beast will be different. During the briefing, a Firstie gave a very good presentation. Q&A for about an hour. During that discussion, he explained in detail that the format for Beast has been significantly changed. This happened last year. The focus has been tilted much more toward military training with somewhat less emphasis on the rote memorization, shoe polishing, room cleaning, etc.

An example was given: one week of Beast is now firearms training. Day/night. With night vision. Gas masks. Using only tracer rounds at night to "walk in" to the target. Familiarization with more weapons.

Don't worry, all the plebes still get gassed while reciting "knowledge" from memory until they take a breath. So, don't get bummed that you'll be denied this experience.

As a parent with no experience/familiarity in this, I'm sorry can't get into more specific details. The Firstie did say that unless you talk to the cadre who participated in Beast as part of their summer leadership last year, you won't get an accurate impression of what will occur this year.

Sweet! Hopefully this plays out - as the military stuff will be what I'm most interested in!

So wait, is it first being changed for the Class of 2015 or was it changed already for the Class of 2014?
