What blocks were your 2014 Plebes assigned?

Mine got:
1st Block: Summer Cruise (Yeah, I'll bet it is just like a cruise!) He's hoping to head for Hawaii or Dubai, said he heard those were possibilities. (Anyone know the likelyhood of one of those places being a destination?)

2nd Block: Leave

3rd Block: YP cruise from VA to ME

He was happy with his assignments as they were the ones he requested.

I used the words Plebe and Happy in the same note! Who would have thought that would be possible? :yllol:

Certainly, current events will most likely play a role on where MIDN travel for cruises OCONUS.

Not sure what assignments are going on in Dubai -- but Bahrain being a current hot spot --that is something that will have to be monitored and a decision made by USNA and Fleet CDRs.

I can imagine that it is going to be hectic for the Fleet staff O-3 trying to make all the pieces of the puzzle fit.

In the military, nothing is certain -- just have to roll with the waves.

2013 had a lot of good deal cruises. PRODEV made an effort to get them out to ships all over the world. My year the best anyone got was Hawaii (which is pretty damn good) and that was rare.

Most people (including myself) ended up in Norfolk or Mayport for a month. I was lucky in that my ship actually went out for about 10 days and tried to find good deals for us (tour of squadrons at NAS Oceana, tours of other ships, etc) when were in port, but a lot of people were tied to the pier for four weeks.

Either way, your son won't find out until a couple weeks before the fact. Cruise can suck or be awesome, but it's also a good opportunity to pick the brains of the enlisted and JOs about the "real Navy" and get an appreciation for what they do.

It appears my 2/C will be enjoying some "fun in the sun":guns4: at Leatherneck ( MCB Quantico) for 1st Block, then returning to the Yard to welcome and assist:biggrin: the new Plebes on I-day as a Plebe Summer detailer 2nd Block, and finally for 3rd block , possibly an aviation cruise.

First block: NASS (summer seminar) leader -- DS is very pumped about this
Second block: Cruise -- not sure where
Third block: vacation

According to my Mid: Leatherneck is so much fun. Bring all the shin guards they have. They will meet every tree and tree stump in the forests of Virginia during night maneuvers.:shake:

Just was what I was hoping for. I mean what new plebe would not want their detailer to just have returned from Leatherneck?

In my company, three out of four of the squad leaders (for both sets) will have just gone to Leatherneck. Should be fun.

Hahah yes! This should make for an interesting time for your plebes.

My 2/C will be right alongside yours, greeneagle!

AF6872 has it correct. Durring night land navigation, my Mid found those same tree stumps, barbed wire, a small cliff, and fell into the same river 3 times. Also, Quntico has 20+ species of snakes, but the good news is only 3 of them are poisonous. Enjoy that thought as you stumble through the darkness.

I did feel a twinge of pitty as well for her plebes on I-Day as she and 4 other detailers came out of Leatherneck and hit those unsuspecting plebes with that "Marine" attitude.

Now summer blocks will become a distant memory as it is on to 6 months of TBS, and the real world after graduation.
