"Grease returns to plebes’ Herndon climb"

I see this as an awesome tradition. Had I gone to USNA with 2013, I know I would have been disappointed with the herndon not being greased...not only is the climb exciting, but a lot of fun as well. A chance for plebes to work together and show how much they have learned by instituting teamwork and critical thinking skills.

Looks like Annapolis needs some guidance from NAVOSH... Naval Safety Council!

Just curious Larry...do you disagree with its return?

Yep, I agree it's good for it to be back. The Docent's all love to tell their story of how their class did or how recent classes did and were noticeably dissapointed to tell tourist recently it was no longer greased. Plus the freshmen we knew last year told us they were really disappointed because they wanted to partake in the full traditions of Annapolis to have the connection with prior classes and were very unhappy with the removal of the grease. Those traditions are what helped them choose Annapolis in the first place so don't mess with tradition!

KUDOS to the "Squids!"

And I say that with LOVE!!!

I'm very pleased to see this return!

As I posted on a different thread...traditions...some are just too important, they transcend the time and era.

This is a GOOD thing!! :thumb:

Nice to see some sanity come back to the place. Fowler should be run out of town on a rail.

Now, 2012 should demand a chance to climb Herndon the RIGHT way, if only to expunge the disgrace of being the only class in ages to have done it wrong, albeit through no fault of their own.
