New Deadline
Objee may not yet be able to speak on behalf of the Admissions Department (he often doesn't give us statistics until after the relevant deadline has passed), but as an observer, it seems to me that they have been working very conscientiously on the applications for admission to the Academy, which is something that those of us with DSs and DDs who are juniors will appreciate next year. In a separate string you'll see that YankeesFan's conditional appointment was made just four days ago. I appreciate Admissions giving the AIM applicants the extra time while they focus on the regular applicants. If recent history is a guide, they will probably receive around 1,500 completed applications and that means approximately 1,500 transcripts and guidance counselor write-ups, 3,000 - 4,500 essays and up to 1,500 letters of recommendation to review along with the online applications. As the father of an AIM applicant and a future Academy applicant, I like the fact that they don't try to handle both types of applications at the same time, especially when they are dealing with the hardest decisions for offers of admission to the Academy. Sgtpenn, you may want your DS to ask if the essays can be revised after they've been submitted. If there are any optional items he didn't submit, such as the letter of recommendation or the optional third essay, he can take advantage of the extension to obtain and submit them. When I learned of the extension, I suggested to my DS that he take advantage of the extra time to put more work into his essays.
