The Scholars at MMI received word today on their appointments to the class of 2015. My DS is joining the Class of 2015 and needless to say is very happy. For those of you who have received word on a CGAS appointment for next year it is nothing but positive for their future. Keep your grades up and stay out of trouble and you have a full appointment for the following year. It has been a long year with ups and downs but overall for my DS the best thing that could happen to him. He will have experienced living away from home and having to deal with issues and solve those on his own. A year towards his retirement in the Coast Guard and be able to bank about $8,000 that will supplement his next four years at the Academy. And best of all he will hit Swab summer with much more confidence after last years two weeks of orientation (they cram swab summer into two weeks for the scholars) If you would like to PM me I can give you some further insight on his time at MMI from a parent perspective.

Congratulations 2015 NMMI ad MMI USCGAS

Congratulations to NMMI and MMI USCGAS receiving their 2015 appointments! All your hard work has paid off. Best to all of you :thumb:

Scholars Question

First of all congratulations to your scholar appointments to the academy. My son just received his scholar appointment for next year. My question, does my son have a choice to attend either MMI or NMMI. He is or will be playing football when he gets to the academy and the coach wants him to go to NMMI so he can play before he gets his appointment.

Usually not and from what I can see on the new Scholars web site and in the handbook for next year it looks like they are only sending Scholars to MMI, and they don't have a football team. I would give the admissions office a call and talk to them, phone number is on the Academy's web site.

Thanks for the reply Ynot. He is fine with either. Football being his first choice. He has also been recruited to play baseball at the academy also. At this point he is just one happy kid to be given the opportunity.
