The past four years have been quite the experience and now we get to start planning for graduation. We have the schedule of events, but I have not heard how many people each midshipman will be allowed to invite to the actual graduation ceremony. Since we are coming in from the left coast reservations need to be made and hotels booked. Does anyone know where I can find out how many people we can invite?

I am not sure were we found this, but it was out a while ago.

If graduation is outside you can bring as many people as you want (unless the President comes....doubtful this year). If it has to be moved indoors there will be a ticket system as there is limited seating.

Most of the other events are come one, come all with some requiring advanced reservations/tickets (eg Booze Cruise)

Grad. Schedule

DD sent one that she had received from the RC....It had more details. Ask your
DD or DS to forward it to you.

It was sent out Jan 21st and contained no additional details - this is a copy/paste of the word document that was attached to the email that my DS forwarded. Based on past years schedules I would use this as a reliable guide as to the dates you will want to around Great Neck - time to make your flights and hotel reservations.

Actually, the updated graduation information is posted on the National Parents Website.....Along with the Gold & Silver Stars for 1st and 2nd Tri (under News tab).http://site.usmmanationalparentsassociation.info

Moosemom...be careful with telling Mids to forward things. If you notice at the bottom of academy emails, it says confidential for recipient only (normal government stuff), but, if the information is not intended for public knowledge and it is forwarded your Mid could get in some trouble...... just saying!

Thanks

Since this was all ready posted on the National Parent Website....it was OK to have DD forward......This is what she was told when she asked.

Thanks for the caution.

This is way off topic, but if they are really putting that at the bottom of all their emails that is ridiculous. One of the tenants of classifying govt emails is to use the lowest classification system as possible. To make something for official use only/confidential just because it is "gov't" is way beyond the norms of govt email use.

okay, back to graduation talk, sorry, couldn't resist commenting on the insanity of gov't.

Here goes......

THIS EMAIL IS INTENDED FOR DISTRIBUTION TO ADDRESSEES ONLY. DO NOT RELEASE PURSUANT TO FOIA, DISCOVERY, OR SUBPOENA UNTIL EVALUATED FOR PRIVACY ACT, PRE-DECISIONAL, ATTORNEY WORK PRODUCT, AND ATTORNEY-CLIENT PRIVILEGED INFORMATION.

Quote: the gov't.......

Ridiculous

Ridiculous

Actually maybe not given we are talking about college students email that without such a footer may be required to be surrendered in response to a FOIA request without review or the opportunity to be redacted --- as a minimum it may give the Academy the opportunity to protect a mid who is under 21's privacy since unlike the USNA, USAFA and USMA they won't be protected like the information of those of military personnel that might help shield them....
#justsayin'

All parents....please

CHANT WITH ME......:shake:

NO RAIN...........NO RAIN............NO RAIN...........NO RAIN ON JUNE 20!!!! :wiggle:

NOW REPEAT...........

NO RAIN...........NO RAIN............NO RAIN...........NO RAIN ON JUNE 20!!!! :wiggle:

AGAIN........

NO RAIN...........NO RAIN............NO RAIN...........NO RAIN ON JUNE 20!!!! :wiggle:

All parents, Mids and relatives of the class of 2011 THANK YOU...

Is it common for parents to attend the Firday evening cruise and Saturday evening Ball?

DD has already informed me that we will be attending the Friday night cruise (AKA Booze Cruise) next year. As in, "You do know that you will be . . . ." Yes, I do know that I will be. . . . :thumb:

KPDad ~ Yes, it is common for parents to attend the cruise and the Ball. We are :thumb:

So any notion of President Obama coming must be out since there are unlimited tickets to graduation. That being said, do we know who the speaker will be?

We're doing that sunny cheer too.
