Thank you for the information.

I have just a couple questions.

The status changes began on last Thursday, Friday had the most activity. There were a few on Monday and only a couple on Tuesday.

I know that this forum is only a small sampling of all the applicants but it seems since nobody today has announced a status change that things seem to be completed in regard to offers.

With your statement above are you saying that CC is still in the process of making offers and applicants still waiting may still see their status change.

There are a lot of very anxious applicants posting here that thought the offer process has ended, I would hate to see them have false hope. If in fact CC is still making offers that would indeed be great news for those that are still waiting.

Thank you

Hey...who let Howard into our little party???

Have not been told that all the letters are sent yet, but usually we are the last to know. Will be pressing for that word soon, and will alert the masses once I hear.

3rd Round Scholarship Offers

From what I can tell, offers began populating in the Cadet Command Information System around 14 April, that being said, letters usually follow around a week or so.

As of Friday, 23 April 2011, we were informed that all offers have been posted.

Talk to the ROOs

clarksonarmy - As for party crashing, I have Larry Mullen the DODMERB Guru to thank for recommending this forum during the ROO course last year. Since then, I've been here in more of a passive roll as this site has even assisted me as a ROO.

glad to have you aboard. This is a great place to help everyone out, and it's a good place to get a little visibility for you school and Battalion.

A little off topic but I have not received any offers or letters of rejection from CC but recently had to complete the DoDMERB. Does this mean I am being considered for a scholarship or just following procedure?

The final CC scholarships have been given.

The whole dodmerb thing has been a mystery. The upside of having the dodmerb completed early is that if you are selected for a campus scholarship you will be ready to contract right away and will not have to delay because of dodmerb. I would talk to the ROO at the school you are planning to attend and let them know that you have completed your dodmerb physical. Have you been notified as to whether you are qualified yet. If so let them know that as well. Who knows it may help in their decision if they have any campus scholarships to offer this year.

Good luck.

EDIT You won't receive a letter of rejection until after May when CC sends out the confirmation letters and receives back the accept or decline of offers from those awarded the scholarships this year.

Ok that helps. I got my DoDMERB packet 2 weeks ago and completed it last week. Its odd they would send that out while they are finishing up the selection process. I have recieved no word on anything. not good.

Log onto your dodmerb account and you can track the progress of the medical exam, it will soon show whether you are qualified or not or whether they are requesting a remedial. Kepp up with what they ask for so you can get it all taken care of before school starts. This was if there are any campus scholarships available and you can secure one you will be able to contract right away.

You won't get a rejection letter until all the scholarship offers have been accepted or declined, that will happen sometime in May. You may not get anything until June. All the offers have gone out from CC, there won't be anymore offers from CC. Any offers now will come in the form of campus scholarships if available, for information on how that process works, there are a couple threads just down the page a bit.

Good Luck

By campus scholarship do you mean an "in-school" scholarship? And would an ROO be any of the officers in the local ROTC program?
The university I am interested is a cross-town college to the local AROTC program.

Campus-Based Scholarships are scholarships that are offered by the particular Army ROTC Detachment on campus vs. the National board selected scholarships. Some useful info below concerning campus-based:
- They can be 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 or 4-year scholarships
- Are for Students that are interested in an ROTC scholarship, who meet the basic ROTC scholarship eligibility requirements but who have not recieved any of the other ROTC scholarships.
- Student must be enrolled in a Military Science/ROTC course, pass a Physial Fitness Test and be DODMERB qualified in order to submit an application for a campus-based scholarship.
- Funding for campus-based scholarships are only approved by Cadet Command, and availability varies from university to university.

The cadre in the local ROTC program can put you in touch with the ROO, normally the ROO will be found at the Host school location.

Thank you for the information. It has been very helpful to know what I can expect in the future. Unfortunately a 4 year scholarship would have been the only way to pay for my preferred college. Though I probably did not receive a scholarship, it was good experience to apply and go through the motions of the scholarship.

Don't have that attitude. If you plan on pursuing an on-campus scholarship, show up to the unit head hunting and getting a scholarship. Prove the cadre you deserve a scholarship. They will notice.

If you are going to give up so easily, maybe you need to reconsider Army officership and develop a new career interest. I had many young officers that financed their education through financial aid and commissioned through OCS. Additionally. several of my officers attended college on 2 or 3 year AROTC scholarships while using financial aid and merit scholarships to fund the remainder of their tuition.

I don't think he was saying he's giving up, just saying that he knows he will not get a 4 year scholarship to his 1st choice school.

MG33 -- financing your #1 choice can be tricky. Assuming it is a Private university, you can take out loans for year #1, and try to get a campus based scholarship, which come in 3.5 yr, 3 yr, 2.5 yr. and so on time periods. Taking out hefty loans for just one year is not a bad idea ifyou have a good shot at getting years 2,3,4 mostly taken care of, and then a good chance of having a very good paying job 4 years from now. The only way to know your chances of a Campus based scholarship at choice #1 is to start a dialogue with the PMS and ROO at that school... they will be able to give you an idea of your chances.

If your #1 choice is a Public In State, diff story.

In order to obtain a campus scholarship I am guessing I would Ialready need to be enrolled at the university, correct? I would like to pursue Army Officership but I would be risking $44,000 in which I (or my parents) have not the means to pay off. I am also not academically competitive to obtain any supplemental financial aid from my #1 university primarily due to my ACT score.

It sounds like the best path would be to attend an In State University that has an AROTC program and compete for the In School Scholarship at that school.

It was told to us by all the PMS's we spoke to that our son needed to apply and be ready to attend a school in which he or we could afford as if no scholarship would be offered. This was because of the budget issues and competetive nature of the scholarships this year.

I have seen posts on other boards of applicants that are actually angry that they only received a 3 year AD and don't know how they are going to pay for the first year at their #1 school. The scholarship was never a guarantee for any applicant. All students have a dream school they would like to attend but run into the brick wall of how they are going to pay for it. For many the scholarship is the only answer, when that doesn't happen they need to go back to the plan they had before the scholarship was a consideration.

I don't mean to imply that you are angry or ungrateful for the process. You are in the same boat as thousands of students across the country. The question you have to ask yourself is, what would i have done if the scholarship was never an option.

I am not convinced that the risk of taking on massive debt in student loans is worth attending a school that is perceived as "Better". Current studies are starting to show that the debt taken on by students is not made up by school choices.

I wish this would have worked out like you had hoped, I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide.

Thank You! I completely understand you point. The institution I was looking into gives a super good subsidy to any 2,3,4 year ROTC scholarships. If you recieve any 2,3, or 4 year scholarship the university picks up any other additional costs. The most I would've paid had I recieved any ROTC scholarship would have been 1 year's worth of Room and Board. I have already arranged and completed all the necessary requirements to attend my Plan B school. I again want to thank all of you for your support and insightful advice!
