I recently received my second BFE and I still have a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer for me.

1. When is the $3000 due?

2. Do I need to call someone in order to receive my plane ticket if I checked that I wanted a government issued one?

3. Is it truly beneficial to bring "molded cleats" to BCT like the list suggests? I haven't heard anything about these on the forums so I didn't know if it was something most useful for recruited athletes or for everyone.

Thanks!

I recently received my second BFE and I still have a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer for me.

1. When is the $3000 due? Unless the air force changed their procedure, "Which they could have, because I haven't looked at an appointment package this year", the academy doesn't require you to pay the initial funds. They spot it to you, and give you reduced pay-checks for the first year or so. I believe the army does require you to have the money available. But unless the air force changed it this year, they give you your uniforms, laptop, etc... and spot you the money. The only money you should need is about $150 for personal items until you start getting paid.

2. Do I need to call someone in order to receive my plane ticket if I checked that I wanted a government issued one? Once you fill out the section that you need/want an airline ticket, and submit it back to the academy, they will confirm/contact you. Eventually, they will send you the actual ticket or procedure to print it.

3. Is it truly beneficial to bring "molded cleats" to BCT like the list suggests? I haven't heard anything about these on the forums so I didn't know if it was something most useful for recruited athletes or for everyone. It can't hurt. You will get to spend a lot of time "Playing" on some really nice grass fields during BCT. Some people just use sneakers; but if you have some rubber cleats from high school sports, and don't mind bringing them, it's a good idea.

Thanks!

Here's my $0.29485859830 "Inflation". Mike...

Thank you so much Christcorp! This really helps. I'm glad I can tell my parents we don't have to pay anything :) The CGA is not like that.

One last, silly, question: Do they issue you pajamas? I know obviously they issue you uniforms, but are pajamas a part of that? I never hear talk of them.

You will be issued pajamas and a bathrobe.

Another question: After the swearing-in the day after I-Day, what time is it reasonable to expect to leave the Academy (parents, of course, don't think son is going anywhere!)

I'm trying to firm up airline reservations.

Last year, we went to the swearing in and it started at 8:30 am and was over by 10 am. I saw the schedule for this June and it also is scheduled to start at 8:30.
You should be able to leave the academy about 10 or 11 am and fly out of Denver or COS in the afternoon.
You should get to the chapel wall really early in the am. We got there by 7 AM and alot of people were already there, but we did get a good viewing spot.

Does anyone have a definitive date for A-Day? Parents are making reservations.

Stike_eagle, you do realize movies and music are not allowed for 4 digs until after Recognition, correct?

Yes, I was just wondering if there was an exception in the weight room since I like to use my iPod when I lift. Oh well.

Actually, for the record, CGA does not require the incoming Cadets to submit the $3,000, but they had in the past.
