DS has been 3Q'd for a while but did not receive a nomination from MOC. Discovered from admissions that had he received a nomination he would have easily made the NWL. To date he has not received a TWE. Does this mean there is still an outside chance of nomination and appointment or does the academy not send TWE to those who do not make the NWL. I ask because DS just received a 4 year AROTC scholarship offer to #1 school choice.

Nominations are required by law.

In order to be considered by the Board of Admissions, your DS typically must be nominated by your Congressman, Senator, or the Vice President. The first step would be to check with your Congressman or Senator to verify nomination status. Unfortunately, at this late date, I'd suspect that the nomination did not go through. My son received both a written confirmation and a phone call from our Congressman about his nomination.

Best of Luck!

Thank for your reply chief bs. DS was already informed that he did not receive a nomination from any of our MOCs. Even so are there circumstance were the academy would provide a nomination from another source (ie. VP, Superintendent) for strong candidates who happen to be in a very strong congressional district and therefore did not receive a nomination. Would the fact that he has not received a TWE be an indicator that he is still in the game.

My cadet only received a vague phone call from the senator's assistant. DS ended up having to call back and verify that he received a nom. Never heard anything else.

I would call and ask.

a "strong candidate" who is an amazing recruited athlete might receive a Superintendant's nomination. It does not sound promising, unfortunately.

We have a friend that has been at the prep school all year and he said he's 1 of 30 there who still don't know if they are going to WP next year. So I think there are alot out there still waiting to hear one way or the other.

Most likely you won't hear anything as the nomination is required to be considered for an appointment. Have you contacted the admissions officer to ask?
