Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone here could give me any insight to being on the Marathon/Triathlon team at West Point? Do you have to be super amazing at running? Are most people super amazing at running when they join either of those teams? At the moment, I only have a 7:00 mile. Would that be good enough for those teams? I just want to be in the best shape of my life when I graduate West Point for the Army

If you can run at a 7:00 mile pace for 26 miles straight, I'm confident you wouldn't have much trouble joining the team.

Your max distance at the moment is probably more important than your mile time. I don't know anything about requirements (I'll be a plebe in the fall), but it seems like they probably develop a lot of runners for those teams, and frankly, anyone with a good work ethic can run a marathon (if they have the time to train).

What I'd suggest is if your serious about trying out (or whatever they do) than you should google "marathon training schedule" and look around for a good one. You probably won't be able to complete the entire thing by R-day but in 8 weeks you can probably work up to 12-15 miles, which is something they can work with and I imagine would be useful during beast lol

Yeah, I've seen that before. Thanks for the advice!
