Not officially. However, one of the maintenance people, a Mr. Miyagi, will train you if you ask. You might have to help him wax his cars or paint his fence, but I hear he does a good job.

The do have martial arts at the USCGA. It's not a varsity sport, I don't think it's even a club sport. I guess you could call it an "athletic activity."

Nice Karate Kid reference. Dropped dead laughing when I saw this :yllol:

Does this count as the athletic activity that you have to participate in? TaeKwonDo/martial arts is basically the only sport I can do.

There are sports credits and club credits...you need both. I believe karate was a club credit while I was there...a current cadet may be able to confirm if that is still true.

sports credit is hard to come by these days. Martial Arts is not currently counted as a club sport.

Do intercompany sports count for sports credits? I have Lax in the spring, but aside from that I don't technically have another sport I am playing for the school, and I heard from my AEP Cadet that you need 2 seasons of sports at the academy.

Varsity (which includes JVs) sports get a certain number of credits, club sports gets a little less, and inter-company sports (ICs) get even less (but are still sports credits). You won't get by with one club sport and one IC....good thing is, there are plenty of opportunities to play sports.

Also remember club sports credits are different from club credits...

Also, ICs are FUN. You are representing your company, so it's nice to win. You also have some rivalries with other companies. I seem to remember ICs getting pretty nasty...you're playing with/against a lot of people who only like to win. :thumb:

Alright, thanks! Looks like I need to find another sport to play. :D

The rules have changed (and may change again). Each semester you need one "sports credit". This can be achieved by playing a varsity sport, club sport, or 2 inter-company sports.

Where do winter sports count for semesters?
