Contracting while doing SMP.

So i talked to my NG recruiter the other day and i asked her how many credits you need to contract and she said 12 and she told me that since i have 16 with dual enrollment i would be able to contract when i start in January since i'm going to miss a semester due to BCT/AIT. But i really think you need to complete your freshmen yr (30 credits) before you can contract.
Can anyone confirm this?
side note: i did e-mail my PMS about this but i haven't heard from him yet.
 
I'll double check later today, but I believe you only need 27 credits.
 
that's what you get for talking to an NG recruiter, and not a ROO...you need to be an academic sophomore with 6 semesters left to graduate. If your school considers you a sophomore than you're a sophomore. Your 104r should also show that you only have 6 semesters left to graduate.
 
I am doing the same thing. Just got accepted off waitlist to #1 school. Deferring to second semester. I have HS classes that are college credits and will take 2 classes next summer so that I will be considered a sophomore when I start in the fall of 2012. Where are you headed for BCT/AIT? Me, Fort Benning.

Hmmm...

  1. Pick up the phone
  2. Call your battalion
  3. Ask to speak to the Recruiting Officer or PMS
(if not available, ask when they will be available - call back then)

If you insist on addressing your questions to the wrong people,
you will continue get the wrong answers - GIGO
 
i don't mean to sound rude or anything.
but i'm really not able to contact my ROO or PMS by any means other than e-mail. I'm in baseball season and our practices run from 3-7:30 everyday excluding weekends and our coaches prohibited us from even bringing our phone's to the baseball field. and my ROO isn't very consistent with his e-mails so the communication is a little bare.

@sember5 i'm not sure where i'm going to bct at but i'm leaning a little more towards mp than infantry so i'll probably be going to fort leonard wood.
 
Ralfy...I know how some ROOs can get busy at times...If you were planning to attend a small school (like Clarkson or SUNY Potsdam) you wouldn't have to wait as long for an email response :)
You might want to explain to your coach the importance of the call. Maybe he'll make an exception. On the other hand there is no big rush on getting an answer to this question. There is not much you can do right now to effect whether you contract next spring or the following fall. Just make sure you aren't relying on the advice of a NG recruiter who is obviously not the expert with regards to your situation.
 
-explain situation to coach?
-call during lunch break?
-explain situation to school councilor?
-Ask dear old dad to call?
