Hello all,

I'd like to hear from those who are applying to get into the academy for the class of 2016 (i.e I-Day July 1st, 2012) and who have received their admissions packet from the academy.

I filled out my preliminary application last week, and don't expect to recieve the packet and information to start on CIS until June timeframe as they are making the transition from this years admissions to next years. I'll check back here in a bit and post when my packet arrives as well so others can be on the look out.

I was not selected for NASS but in the rejection letter it said I would be mailed application info sometime in May or June, I believe

I got rejected for NASS last summer, but still applied and now I will be attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School this coming July. So make sure to still try if you are rejected for NASS.

I was accepted to NASS last year ( best six days of my life) I applied to the Academy but did not get in and will be reapplying this year while in college. I was told by the academy that the letters would be mailed out in late may. BTW i kept every letter/pamphlet/etc. the Academy has ever sent me. even the envelopes. they are great motivators and they're nice to read over every now and then. I actually Framed my TWE and it will be hung on the wall of my dorm room :) I may just be weird but it keeps me a very motivated devil dog( if you go to NASS and are in DELTA company you'll understand what that means =])

-also hi shelby, its Tosh from the FB group. I have never actually seen you ont he forum until right after you told me you came from the forum. haha

I figured as much. Good to know everyone else is in the same position. I kept my congressional nomination from the years when I applied. That was an effort to get let me tell you. Tons of interviews and a meeting witha board of 12 trustees. Ugh.

And Devil Dog is a term that the Germans gave the Marines in WWI at the Battle of Belleau Wood in France. They said we (we as in the Marines) fought like tuffelhunden (devil dogs)

I'm curious why/if they called you devil dogs during a summer seminar.

yes i know what a devil dog really is, they didnt exactly call us devil dogs. at the end of every night we did a count off to make sure everyone was there the last person in the count of would say their number and whatever fraze the company commander would tell you to say. I got to do the final count off and when it got to me i said ( 149 motivated devil dogs on deck sir!) My squad was very proud that we got to do the last count off. Its just another one of those memories that will always stay with you :)

Just wanted to plug our Facebook Group "USNA Class of 2016." The group was started by a USNA applicant who was not accepted for 2015 and determined for a spot in 2016! She was motivated to start the group and I post there as well - As of now, most of the posts relate to NAPS info. This year's Napsters have "friended" each other in the group; I expect the group to become larger once more applications are processed.

I also refer prospective candidates to SAF as the FB group is a little more informal.
