The good news is that I received a letter from the USCGA telling me that the board was impressed with my application, that I had great potential, that they look forward to seeing my application for the class of 2016 and that they are extending an invitation to "Cadet for a day".
My name, along with all other well qualified applicants, was put into a lottery...
The bad news is...
My name was not drawn to attend AIM.
I am not discouraged because I trust that the Admissions staff meant what the letter said and they have no interest in being anything but truthful. In that light I'm honored to be considered worthy of being among those the Academy considers to have "great potential". I will definitely make arrangements to attend "Cadet for a day" the instant that it becomes available.
But I must admit, I am disappointed. Congratulations to all of you who will be attending AIM this summer! I wish I could be there with you!
