Ron Paul 2012

This will make my DH happy!! Will be interesting to see who else will throw their hat into the ring...

Hope you didn't actually want into an Academy. Ron Paul is all about making the DoD the American version of the JSDF (Japanese Self-Defense Force). Has good ideas and interesting philosophy.

Then again, he has no hope at being president, so all of it is moot. How many times has he already tried? Though to be fair, he is orders of magnitude better than his crazy son.

I don't know about him having no chance. He's already doing well in the GOP.

Perhaps he'll finally win at his third go for President.

While I probably wouldn't benefit from all his policies, I think that most of us want is what is best for America. If it's best for America to stop spending like we have been and if it's best for America to have a better foreign policy than that which hasn't exactly been too successful for us, then we should embrace it. Even if it means finding a new career.

As hornetguy said, RP has no chance.

Oddsmakers have him at +4500. (Bet $100 to win $4,500).

President Obama is -200. (Bet $200 to win $100).

That's known as a lock.

As long as the GOP manages to come up with a conservative candidate without baggage like RP it has the election in the bag, the public is tired of the current admin. and is begging for a better "change", Republicans need to nominate an relatively unknown, energetic candidate to rally the GOP to lead our once-great country out of the pits we are falling into.

Also, as a side note, just having finished AP US History, RP kinda reminds me of Henry Clay; the eternally hopeful candidate who never quite has enough popular support to carry him into office. You can't win a race against an incumbent who has the capabilities to raise $1 billion (projected campaign revenue for the 2012 campaign for current president Obama) without showing up with some serious political firepower and a candidate who doesn't poll as badly as RP has recently.

Or William Jennings Bryan. The Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz is allegedly based off of him (or some people think that). Bryan ran for President three times unsuccessfully, as he was famed for his oration more than anything else. He was Secretary of State under Wilson, though (for a time).

Bryan and the famous "Cross of Gold" and the free coinage of silver debate. It may be coming true again with a predicted reversion to the gold standard based upon the fall of the dollar against world currencies and the obvious inflation based on the overuse of printing presses. Seen your gas prices lately as the dollar falls? Watch Huntsman as a dark horse out of nowhere. At this time in their presidential runs both President Clinton and President Obama were not on the radar screens.

With this I would agree - except Obama 'outed' him at the WH Correspondent's Dinner.

PS Ron Paul? No chance.
