SAT Scores

1. Just making sure: I submit SAT Scores straight from the Collegeboard website, correct? How do I choose the highest scores from each test? I'm new to submitting SAT scores... even if I'm correct, can someone please explain in detail?

2. Let's say I submit my full application by September 1st - recommendations, grades, SAT scores, everything. Let's also say that I decide to take the SAT again in October, and I get a better score compared to the one that I took earlier in the year. Can I send the October scores, or is it too late to submit it, since I already sent the application?

Yep. You have college board submit them for you, thus making them official.
You don't have to select specific scores. College board will send all the tests you took, and the academy will select the highest scores from each test.

As long as it's before the March deadline, you should be solid.

Yes, just go to the testing website, and submit the air force academy, along with the other schools you wish to submit to. You DON'T CHOOSE what scores go. They ALL GO. The air force academy will take the highest score from all the tests combined. That's why you should take the SAT, and I recommend also taking the ACT, as MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN!!!

When you take the tests again, you will AGAIN write down which schools you want the scores to go to. And the air force academy, again, will see if any of the scores are higher than any previous scores, and replace those scores with the higher ones. You can keep taking the SAT and ACT as many times as you want to, and have the scores sent, all the way through January/February of your senior year. Best of luck to you. mike....

Yes, you submit straight from the college board website. USAFA has a specific code that you can look up on the site and you put it in and they will send it. You may want to consider also seeing if your MOC's need the scores directly from the CollegeBoard. If they do, you can also send them the scores since I think you can send to up to 3 places. It costs money to send the scores after so you might want to look into that.

The CollegeBoard will send all of your scores and USAFA will take the best for each section. You don't have to do any of that. If you take the SAT after you have finished your application, just make sure to send in the scores and USAFA will update your file. I know for 2015, December's test was the last one accepted for admissions but 2016 may be different. Just as a personal reference, I finished my application on a Friday, took the SAT the next day, and the scores I got on that last test were what put me over and got me my appointment according to my ALO.

You can always update your file until the deadline with any new leadership positions, test scores, athletic letters...The board will re-evaluate that portion of your application and give you a new WCS.

I don't think there is any advantage to this with regards to the AFA but College Board will let you pick which scores/test dates to send. The following is from the College Board website.

Score Choice gives you the option to choose which scores (by test date for the SAT and by individual test for SAT Subject Tests™) you send to colleges.

You can choose scores from one, several or all test dates, as well as view the score-use practices of participating colleges and universities. Colleges and universities will only receive the scores that you send them — your scores will not be released without your specific consent.

True; but you should simply take the test as many times as you can afford, and have all the scores go. I know some schools that won't allow you to pick and choose the scores from a particular test. You can choose not to send ANY scores from a particular test date, but some schools won't allow you to send the math but not one of the others.

For the air force, there's no advantage. Simply take the test, and have them send the results to air force. And if you take the tests 10 times, just have them send it to air force 10 times. The academy will choose the best from each, and they'll super-score it.

If you are an athlete don't forget to set up an account with the NCAA. They also want to see all your test scores and they will superscore your results.
