ACU Army Nametape

I just got 2 of each of the ACU US Army Tape, ACU Name Tape, and the Reverse American Flag. All with Velcro. I believe it stated that they must be velcro.

These are for you to have your last name velcroed to your uniform. In addition, you would need a "US Army" tape velcroed to your uniform, as well as other things (like the American flag)

I recommend getting more than 2, at least nametapes. You can easily buy U.S. Army tapes if you ever lose them here but ordering nametapes takes time not to mention the fact that you will be using both (one on your patrol cap and one on your ACU blouse) at once so you won't have any spares the way you would with the flag and U.S. Army tapes. I would also get more than 2 flags since those are lost easily during Beast since they love to jump onto other people's ACU's in crowded places such as the Mess Hall.

They do sell flags in the Cadet Store though so if you're trying to spend at little as possible I'd just get 3-4 nametapes and 2 of the rest.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to order some more nametapes tonight to make sure I have extra.

On this product it states it's either "hook fastener, Velcro, or equivalent." How can one be sure that the nametape is velcro?

What it actually says is "hook fastner. Velcro or equivalent." Velcro is the registered trademark owned by the first developer of the hook fastner product, but either the trademarked or the equivalent product will do the job and should be acceptable.

This is one place where I don't think any of your cadre will be pulling off the name strips to check that you have the registered trademark product.

Most FMs, TMs, and TCs refer to the stuff as anything but the trade name. Every school seems to be different. At Air Assault, it was "hook/pile tape," at jumpmaster it was "hook & loop fastener," etc.

Any nametape you buy for ACUs will be velcro. You generally must specify non-velcro if you're buying to sew it onto something, as velcro is the default for uniforms.

I recommend getting about ten nametapes. You can never have enough. 1 less thing to worry about in Beast.
