Does anyone know what is contained in the Candidate Academic Information and is it important to have this part done ASAP? The problem is that I just emailed my counselor (wasn't expecting her to email back tonight) and I received an auto-response saying that she is now on maternity leave and will not receive emails or phone calls till 10/17/11. I entered her email for this part in the CIS on June 7th so she should know about it. However, would it be detrimental if this part was not done until she returned?
Thank you.
As I recall, my DD entered all of her academic information into the CIS, and the counselor had to verify/approve it. Academic info included classes taken in HS, grades, test scores, honors/awards, etc. I believe that the HS contact also supplies info about the HS itself: what % of graduates go to college, difficulty of course offerings, etc.
I don't think it's an absolute show-stopper if your HS contact can't take care of this until fall. Application materials can be submitted up until next spring if need be.
HOWEVER, it's better to get things rolling earlier rather than later. For one thing, our BGO told us that the CGO pays attention to the time it takes for all of a candidate's application to be completed (shorter time probably means more serious interest).
Most important, your application must be mostly complete (2/3 or 3/4?) before USNA will forward your info to DoDMERB for scheduling of medical appointments.
Can you contact your guidance office or your HS principal to try to get an alternate contact to get things going sooner? If you can get a different contact, be sure to call the USNA CGO to give them the information, as I don't think you can change it in the CIS.
