I am reapplying for the class of 2016 and i have started to write my new essay but i have a problem. it sounds just like last years essay. I'm having writters block. i'd really liek to be able to turn in my personal data record by the end of the month but i don't want to turn in a bad essay. last year i worked on my essay for 5 months before i turned it in and i don't want to take that much time i want my application to be pretty much finished by august.

Were you not satisfied with your last essay?

If you thought it was good, I wouldn't think there would be a problem with saying many of the same things.

Do you have a good idea why you were not accepted? If so, THAT is the area that I'd work hardest on.

I wouldn't think your essay should change much. Is the essay question still "How does attending the Naval Academy help you obtain your goals and what event in your life has helped shape your character?" If so, I don't see how that could change much. Maybe there is a better way to word it but, for the most part, you're the same person this year that you were last year. The answer to that question probably hasn't changed - I wouldn't think.

I loved my essay last year! But I don't want the two to be to similar. I think I'm just over thinking it I just need to relax and write.

If the essay question is the same, and you truly want to change it up, think about what has changed from last time to this time. You are doing it right now, applying to USNA a second time. Did going through the application process once and now going through it a second, have an impact on who you are today? Write from your heart and don't just put down on paper what you think people want to hear.
