What does this quote mean?

"In the book of life, the answers aren't in the back"
ive heard this several times..but don't understand it. can someone explain?

Lots of textbooks (i.e. math, science) have "answers to selected problems" in the back of the book, and some have a glossary of terms. That way, when you are learning the material, you can look at the answers to see if you're on the right track.

The phrase you quote means there's no equivalent in real life, although some would argue that The Bible or The Koran do just that.
