BGO issues

This is my second time applying and I am using the same BGO. Last time I had major issues getting in contact with my Bgo. I was hoping that this time around would be better. But it has only gotten worse. Has anyone else had this problem? I would feel extremely bad if I requested a new Bgo. When I am able to speak to my Bgo he really is very helpful and very supportive and I know that Bgos have busy lives and this is not the only responsibility they have. I'm just not sure what to do. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

I also have tried contacting my regional director and he is extremely hard to get in contact with as well.

I suggest you contact your Area Coordinator (who coordinates BGOs in a region) and ask to be assigned a new BGO for this year. I actually recommend that my reapplying candidates interview with a new BGO as well as me. The reason is that they get an interview with a different person who has a fresh perspective. A second "great" recommendation can only help.

You can find your AC in the USNA catalog, which is available on line. Most ACs cover an entire state. For larger states, there may be more than one AC but it should be easy to figure out which one is yours.

BTW, I wouldn't complain too much about your current BGO. Just say you are reapplying and would like to have a second BGO this time around. It's done all the time so shouldn't be an issue.

Just in case you don't read between the lines, I think you can interpret this as "do not complain about one officer to another officer." :thumb:

Wise counsel. And it has nothing to do with the degree to which a BGO might be perceived and/or determined negligent. THAT is secondary to the primary issue of how a candidate handles adversity, merited or otherwise. The notion of "life being fair" is pure cultural mythology. Good opportunity to make a negative a positive.:thumb:
