Some plebes have been permission to use their new laptops:thumb:

hope I get an e-mail tonight to go with my phone call:shake:

I hope we get an e-mail too...hope he remembers our e-mail address!! Can't wait for phone call!

no worries

No worries Mademu and Hurricane12...my plebes computer was immediately locked up after setup...no e-mail here! See, they are having it as tough as you did:shake:

We weren't even issued our computers until after PPW and reform occurred. It was during those weird 3 days that the brigade is back, but they can't talk to the plebes yet. To be honest I hope they do not get to email. There is still several weeks of plebe summer left and they need to focus on that. I bet detailers are having fun catching plebes trying to email in the middle of the night!

Know some (not sure of the number) companies let their plebes send a quick email to their parents...maybe part of a test? We were surprised to receive a very short email from ours yesterday afternoon. Asked for a couple things for PPW, reminded us of the call last night, said his laptop was being locked up very, very shortly so not to email back, and said if they were caught on Facebook, there would be HECK to pay.

Don't think my mid is in the group that will be emailing. When I asked him about his laptop he replied that he'd just bought himself a lot of cool computer equipment and enough uniforms to last for at least four years:shake:

Nope. 2012 had the last real Plebe Summer/Plebe year

Not sure about that...Annapolis is having record heat this summer...2015 will definitely have bragging rights about their plebe summer being the toughest:biggrin:

I don't think they have much access to their computers until after plebe summer but remember most of the plebes have phones with internet access so when they get their phones back to make calls they can also email, text and surf unless they have been specifically told not to.

The heat makes it easier. More black flags, less white works, more shoe shining. I remember looking forward to hot days, because they couldn't do anything to us then.

2015 has it much easier.

I thought the phone calls are only 3 minutes long? It would be practically impossible to do the above and talk to your family/significant other simultaneously.

Last Night

no e-mails but we did get a 30 minute phone call:smile::smile::smile::smile

our plebe has set up her laptop but not the docking station, no idea if she will get to use it before PPW, mushroom effect, kept in the dark and fed whale, um , well you know what:rolleyes:

First call was about 5 minutes, second was 20 and the last one was 20-30 - plenty of time to talk to us and send out a quick update to friends.

Wow...I can't believe how the times have changed.
I can understand maybe 5 minutes for each call...but 20-30 minutes?

Dang straight. I got one five-minute call all summer with a detailer yelling the whole time, and no popsicle on July 4th, either. Clearly those 25 extra minutes out of the 30,240 every three weeks is going to make 2015 a class of marshmallows.

Ha! Yes, times have changed. It wasn't that long ago that smart phones, facebook and twitter didn't even exist. These current plebes come from an era of instant and constant communication so maybe restricting them to 20 minutes every two weeks on their phones is relative torture! It wouldn't surprise me to see a plebe twitter feed next year!

Hahahaha! That is great Long Ago Plebe! Yes I was a Plebe before all this constant access to email, Internet, etc too. Heck email was just becoming something that most people had at that point. I was so excited when my parents got a home computer so we could email daily my firstie year! I often wonder what it would have been like if my parents had been able to see all this stuff that the parents see now. In some ways I am glad they did not and others it might have been easier to explain things. As I am sure most of us remember we all had to sit in those long lines and wait to call home in the big banks of pay phones. I do remember calling home during plebe summer and they were 5 minutes each. We never knew what date or time we were supposed to call either, so if the rents were not home, we were out of luck. As an athlete I would of loved to have access to all the information they have now. My parents could have read all the articles about my games and heck even watched quiet a few of them with the streaming capability. Times have definitely changed!
