Most of you are preparing to leave for college in a few short weeks.

I just wanted you all to know we will be there whenever you need us.

Good luck and God speed. Thank you for serving and defending this great nation, may all your dreams and wishes come true.

For parents, thank you for supporting them.

God Bless you all. God Bless America!

Go Army Beat Navy
Go Navy Beat Army
Go AF Beat Army and Navy (sorry, I am a retired AF wife, and soon to be an ADAF Mom (2012)).

Thank you for all the help and guidance you and many others on this forum have given over the last year.

I'm heading to Navy ROTC Freshman Orientation/Indoctrination in roughly 2 weeks!

It is completely normal to be nervous, but don't be. You will do just fine!

I'm nervous.

Officer who swore my DS into the guard last month said something along the lines of "being nervous is normal, the ones who aren't nervous scare me:smile:"

DS is a little nervous too, orientation helped A LOT(passed the APFT in his diagnosic with a 235-not great, but somewhere to work from:thumb:)

Just curious SCcandidate - are you most nervous about classes, moving away from home or ROTC? DS hits all 3 about the same, but least worried about classes(should I be scared:wink:)

You should be nervous

Just announced your DS's university as number one party school in the nation.
Good thing he knows which side his bread is buttered on. Or as I tell my DS I'll sit on you and then you'll be dead so only good choices.

Hey that's my schools title  ! But anyway, I don't know what I would have done without you all, especially during January and February! Definitely would have been a lot more nervous.

I'm actually most nervous about the physical aspect of Hell Week lol. I know a lot of people at the school already. And my PT was good for a while, but I took like a three day break, and now my run SUCKS. But I think it's just temporary.
Oh, and I'm also nervous about getting a crappy roommate, but I will make it work regardless.

Yes, saw that OU has been bumped up to #1 this year (#2 last year). While at orientation one of the deans addressed this great poll and OU's continued sucess:rolleyes:. Basically, the poll is student reports - so yes, not scientific but Halloween weekend apparently is a big hit, the City of Athens, not the school, sponsors this HUGE street party and when the stats are looked at, 90% or so of the arrests/problems are townies, other college kids in for the party and PARENTS.

So, actually, when reading/hearing the alcohol policy for the school (1 strike, $250 fine, probation, community service for 9months, second strike - gone.) Oh, and DS has to take 2 hour online alcohol awareness program before arriving in the fall. That and then there is the AROTC cadre to deal with....I'm not too worried about DS - he won't be on campus for Halloween, imagine this, the National Guard has drill that weekend:yllol:

Crappy roomates are a problem...my older DD had 3 roommates first semester freshman year - finally got a good one and has roomed with her ever since. Hope your school allows for some switching if needed. I know Hell week should be a clue, but I can't place the school - yep, I'm such a mom:wink:

If PT was good and a small break thru you off, you obviously know what to do to get back on track. DS's run was poor(compared to previous)so he also has a lot of room for points there. Glad you have a handle on what is making you nervous, so you can use it to fix the problems!

Let 'em party. It makes PT much more entertaining for us.

Just curious..

How did it go letting your cadre know that you are re-applying for the AFA. Were they OK with you accepting the scholarship and being with the program just the first year, I would think they would work with you.

Have you decided whether you will stay in AROTC if you do not get an appointment to the AFA this year. Remember you will have an obligation to the Army if you start your Sophomore year.

Good luck your first year, remember everyone will be nervous right along with you.

I'm leaving early Tuesday morning for the loooooong drive to Maine (I live in California:rolleyes:) and will be starting NROTC orientation the following Tuesday. Super excited but very nervous as well. Not so much about actually being there, it's the waiting and planning that kills me. :yllol:

Anyway, thanks to everyone on this forum who has been of help along the way. This site has been a wealth of knowledge and I don't know where I would be without the guidance!

I haven't told them yet. I haven't even met them yet. That's for next Friday.
I think I will keep the scholarship if I do not get an appointment. Then again, I'm going to be doing some talking with AFROTC on campus as well...

Wow...Really?

That should be an interesting conversation.

As it were, my workout today was massively better than it was two days ago. I did not work out yesterday, as a sort of rest I suppose. Today my pushups and situps were the same as usual, but my run time significantly improved, by like 200 percent.

One time screw-up, I suppose.

On that note... I wonder if it would be feasible to make a fitness forum here on this site, specifically for those students/cadets trying to increase their CFA/PT test scores, and more generally, for anyone who needs to talk about fitness/health. I think this would be a very nice supplement to these threads, a sort of complement, if you will. After all, we have Prep School, Nomination, and DoDMERB forums. Why not have one devoted to the other major aspect of Service Academy/ROTC Scholarship admissions/acceptances? I think it would be pretty useful.

First good luck to all in class of 2015 as your adventure begins! Keep in mind what Bruce Lee once said, The experience is in the journey, not the destination. Also, in the words of Joe Paterno, The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital. Not only for PT, but classes and everything else that you do during college and life.

DS is a bit nervous, but also pumped up. Goals already set for first APFT, has been getting ready all summer and all looks great! No problem in terms of roommate as they've known each other since first grade. Among other things, doesn't have to worry about bumming someone out when the alarm goes off a few mornings a week at O'Way to Early O'Clock. Great but busy class schedule, and also looking at some extra-curriculars.

Time is running short, so make the most of it before taking the next step in your life. Oh yeah, clean your room before you leave so it's nice the first time you get a chance to come home. Don't leave the task for Mom and Dad, they've done a lot and will continue to do so for you.
