Is it ok to bring younger siblings to Acceptance Day? Their big brother (plebe candidate) is excited to see them, but, we are not sure if it is allowed or appropriate.
Thanks.

Yes on both counts. Lots of kids there. They will love it.

Absolutely bring them! It's a very family-friendly weekend. On Friday while DH went to a couple of son's classes, I toured the Kings Pointer with his brothers and also went over to the American Merchant Marine Museum. Went to Beat Retreat Friday night. Saturday was the Acceptance Day ceremony and the football game. Saturday night we went out to dinner with son in tow. The younger brothers had a lot of fun.

We added a Mets game to the weekend as well (this year they're at home on Thursday 9/1 but the other weekend games are on the road). Citi Field is a short train ride away from Great Neck on the LIRR.

siblings

This is a fantastic opportunity for younger sibs. We did the whole sha-bang as a family. Coming from Colorado, we came early and stayed late. Yes his younger sisters missed a little school but what fun they had. We spent every moment allowed with DS but also played tourist in NYC.

This is a "not to be missed" time seeing the campus, seeing the KP lifestyle (including Delano), and most of all supporting your DS! Please bring your younger children - who knows, maybe future KP'ers.

Thank you for your help. We are all in! Looking forward to a great time.

Here's a question that's been on my mind....where in the world does everybody park when they are on campus during Parent's Weekend? It was extremely jammed just getting in for Indoc drop off. I can't imagine how that many people get in and out of the school, much less have a place to park. I'm sure there's a system set up, I've just been wondering how it all works.

There are several streets that feed into the campus where we parked. I can't remember the name of them off the bat, we parked by one that fed in the campus by Delano. They made room for us all and it wasn't too long a walk.
For Acceptance Day, more of the campus is available to us for parking so it isn't the log jam that Indoc was!

We often left the car at the hotel and took a taxi to campus. called a taxi when time to leave. We spent most of the entire day on campus so no need for a car most of the time. This works, of course, if you are staying fairly close to the campus. It also leaves the few available spaces open for those who drive in from some distance. We always used Friendly Taxi. Not the newest of cabs, but always on time....and pretty friendly.

We also used Friendly Taxi to get from LaGuardia to our auto rental facility in Great neck. Then had Friendly Taxi pick us up from the rental office on the way back to LaGuardia. Much easier than driving to and from LaGuardia and the rental pricing was often less as well. If we were leaving on a Sunday (rare) we just left the car at the hotel for the rental agency to pick up (carefully noting that there was no damage to the vehicle first and using a hotel employee as a witness. Used Enterprise in Great Neck. Just an idea from an "old timer" and frequent visitor from Texas!

yea but the cost of a taxi from LaGuardia to KP is $40.00 one way. The Mids usually cram a bunch in the taxi so lessen the cost :)

Taxi

I'm sure this has been said before, but doesn't hurt repeating.

Once a New York taxi crosses the county line (i.e, airport to Long Island), the fare doubles. Call ahead and have a Long Island taxi pick you up at the airport.

ABSOLUTELY...we always used Friendly Taxi..always on time and "friendly"...not the newest of vehicles to say the least, but the price and service was always great.

The lady at Admissions advised me to ride with them for my upcoming visit. I called and was told it is only 32 dollars from LGA to KP.
